The LaCie 2TB Little Big Disk with Thunderbolt is a stellar, compact device, great for storing your multimedia files and taking them with you. This Little Big Disk features a total capacity of 2TB and relies upon two built-in drives formatted in a RAID 0 to give you extra speed.
For connecting to your computer, the Little Big Disk boasts two dual Thunderbolt ports. Each Thunderbolt port can transfer data and video at the same time and each features a theoretical transfer rate of 10Gbps. In practice with these ports and the built-in RAID 0 configured drives, this Little Big Disk can read data at a rate of 190MB/s and write data at a rate of 190MB/s.
With two ports, you can daisy-chain this Little Big Disk to other Little Big Disks or to up to six other Thunderbolt-compatible devices. Daisy-chaining multiple Little Big Disks can also increase your transfer speeds. With the swift read and write speeds and the easy-to-carry size, the Little Big Disk makes for the perfect way to travel with your video, photo, music or data files. It is compatible with Mac computers.

I am using a iMac, with 8 GB OF RAM , 27-inch: 2.7GHz
2.7GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 ,with this mac, I don't have problems when I use it's the internal hard river to capture my videos in FCP.
BUT when I use the 2TB Little Big Disk with Thunderbolt by LaCie, to capture my video , I get drop frames , when I play back the video. good look with this product ..

Bought this hard drive to use thunderbolt new technology but it is actually just as fast as my E-sata G-tech drive which is 150 USD cheaper. Don´t get fool by the thunderbolt technology on this one, it only does 5400 rpm so it is not fast at all in terms of no advantage of the thunderbolt interface.

I had high hopes for this drive. Fast, and able to connect a second monitor through the drive.
The first one would not mount to the computer.
LaCie replaced it.
The second one would not spin up at all.
LaCie replaced it.
Third one is very loud. I can't use it in the recording environment in which I work. Also, when I connect a second monitor to it, it shows very strange colors. Totally unusable.
This drive is a total bust.

I bought this product to use for on-location backup and editing for video footage I record for clients.
To that end is works very well (+-190 Mb/s RAID 0 - out part of the disks) for what it is.
It's small, rugged and importantly has 2 x Thunderbolts ports which allows Thunderbolt pass-thru!
The only 2 reasons I would not give this 5 stars is because of price and the fact that it requires external power - it cannot be powered solely from the Thunderbolt cable (not included).
Currently it's the best & biggest 2.5" high speed Thunderbolt option available and I'm very pleased!
