The JVC GZ-HM30 HD Everio Memory PAL Camcorder is a budget-friendly gateway into high definition. Record 1280 x 720 video and use the AVCHD Lite format to up-convert your video output into pristine high-definition 1920 x 1080/50p resolution. This is possible because each 720p frame is recorded twice, which results in a 1080p HD output. You may be recording in 1280 x 720p resolution at 25 frames per second (fps), but when you play back the footage on your HDTV - you'll be looking at the upconverted 1920 x 1080p HD resolution at 50 fps.

The GZ-HM30 uses memory card technology to store your recordings. It features a SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card slot and all that's required to get started is a memory card and a quick battery charge (memory cards sold separately). The camcorder's lens is a beautiful Konica Minolta HD Lens, which is designed specifically for recording crisp and vibrant HD video. Plus, the 1/5.8" 1.5MP CMOS image sensor converts the optical image into a digital video picture with amazing accuracy, even in low light. Another highlight of the GZ-HM30 is its 2.7" LCD 230k display panel, which can be used for both real-time recording and instant playback. The camcorder is equipped with several other shooting aids as well. It has an Advanced Image Stabilizer for steady shooting, even when you're moving with the camera. When you're shooting from far away, you can take advantage of the 40x optical zoom when shooting in high-definition and 70x dynamic zoom when shooting in standard-definition. There's also a powerful 200x digital zoom, which works when you're shooting in either the AVCHD Lite format or the SD format.
