Sensitive or identifiable information like Employer Identification Number (EIN), bank accounts, credit card accounts and payroll information will be removed when creating a Starter Copy. You can access this new feature from the File \ New Company menu.

Create A Time Bound Copy Of Your Clients' QuickBooks Files
Help your clients fulfill a request from a third party for their company data. The Period Copy feature allows you to easily create a copy of a QuickBooks company file for a specific date range, while preserving the original with all transactions. Includes transactions with: Open balances, reimbursable expenses that have not been reimbursed, payroll transactions from the current year, transactions not reconciled, transactions marked to be printed or emailed, online checks waiting to be sent or checks with associated pending payment inquiries, transactions linked to other transactions that cannot be removed, and payments that have not yet been deposited.

Work in two different company files simultaneously! Improves workflow by reducing time spent switching between QuickBooks files when entering inter-company transactions and answering client questions.

QuickBooks File Manager
A standalone application included with QuickBooks Accountant 2012, File Manager is accessible as a desktop icon or via the Accountant menu. Easily view all QuickBooks files across version years on your PC / server from 1 easily-organized window. Files may be sorted by type, location, version year and last date modified. Launch the correct version year of QuickBooks every time; just double click on the file name. Securely store usernames and passwords with the built-in Password Vault (works with QuickBooks 2011 files and newer). Now, you can even transfer usernames / passwords to another user's PC! Access summary company information for each client file, such as tax form used, start of company tax year, report basis, fiscal year start date, whether client collects sales tax, and process payroll. Reduce the time taken to upgrade QuickBooks files via the automated batch upgrade tool, instead of upgrading files individually.
Work On Same Company File As Your Client-At The Same Time
Accountant's Copy reduces downtime and increases productivity by allowing you and your client to work on the same company file simultaneously. Clients set a dividing date in their QuickBooks file and send a copy of the file to you. You can work in the past period while clients work in the current one. Send back your changes so the client can merge them. File transfer services across Intuit servers are available for an additional fee of $9.95 per year (included in ProAdvisor membership). Accountant's Copy will now return customer / vendor credits back to your client. When you use the Fix Unapplied Credits tool under Client Data Review, all applied credits changed in an Accountant's Copy will be saved and included in the returned company file.

Please note: Works with Accountant Copy files from QuickBooks Pro, Premier and Premier Industry Editions 2012 and 2011. Payroll transactions cannot be adjusted. Not all fields can be accessed for QuickBooks 2011 files, including 1099 Account Mapping and modify / merge class lists. Previous versions of Accountant's Copy restricted reconciliation after dividing date. Additional fees apply for file transfer services across Intuit servers.
Save Time Using Client Data Review In Multi-User Mode
You can now use Client Data Review in multi-user mode! For the first time, write-off invoices and reclassify transactions in batch instead of individually, easily view changes to account balances on a single screen, and more - all while multiple users access the same file. Only one user at a time can access Client Data Review in multi-user mode.

Save time and reduce errors by reclassifying transactions in batch rather than one at a time. Whether you use it for a group of invoices, series of payments or inventory overview, this feature enables you to select / execute multiple transactions at once. Plus, with Client Data Review, you get exclusive access to 8 highly specialized tools created specifically for accounting professionals! This set available only in QuickBooks Accountant, can be accessed under the Accountant menu.
Tool 1: Reclassify Transactions In Batch Instead Of Individually
This tool brings several steps together into 1 easily accessible window. Accounts are listed on the left and transactions in those accounts are on the right. Using checkboxes, choose which transactions to reclassify, then select the account and class you want to reclassify to and push the Reclassify button.
Tool 2: Write-Off Invoices In Batch Instead Of Individually
Enables you to specify a group of invoices to write-off instead of doing them one by one. There is no limit to the number of invoices you can write off at once. Internally, each invoice you write off is discounted. A memo is added to the invoice and the discount transaction. All invoices that you write off are tracked. To see the list anytime during the review, select Audit Trail of Review from the Client Data Review center.
Tool 3: Identify Multiple Unrecorded Payments With Pay Sales Tax Function
From one window, identify multiple payments that appear to be sales tax payments but were not recorded using the Pay Sales Tax function. These unrecorded payments happen when a client uses a regular check to pay Sales Tax. Using checkboxes, you can change all or some of the payments to Sales Tax Check with a few clicks.
Tool 4: Quickly See / Fix Inventory Discrepancies From One Screen
Contains several views of potential inventory problems. By changing which items are shown and the inventory criteria, you can see items in a manner that best suits your client's company. After the inventory list is shown, QuickZoom to an inventory item and fix any errors. Status columns help identify irregularities in inventory, like negative quantities or items that are out of balance.
Tool 5: Review List Changes
Easily identify added, changed, deleted, or merged list items from the previous review period. The Review List Changes tool reports all list changes for the Chart of Accounts, Item List, Payroll Items, and Fixed Asset Items. This tool also provides direct access to the Customer / Vendor Centers and Review Item Setup window.
Tool 6: Easily View Changes To Account Balances From Previous Close
The beginning balances in a client's books for the review period may differ from the balances in your records for the previous period. This feature displays the differences in balances and suggests the adjustment of entries to correct the opening balances.
Tool 7: Clean Up Unlinked Transactions
Match unapplied vendor and customer payments / credits with invoices / charges from one window. Payments / credits appear in the right column and invoices / charges in the left. Using checkboxes, select which payments / credits to match up with invoices / charges.
Tool 8: Clear Up Un-Deposited Funds Account From One Screen
If a deposit is created manually instead of by selecting payments in the Payments to Deposit window, the amount of the payment can stay in the Undeposited Funds account indefinitely. From a single screen, this tool enables you to link deposits to payments, so you can quickly clear out the Undeposited Funds account.
