SM Pro Audio M-PATCH 2 Passive Stereo Controller/Switch Box
The M-PATCH 2 Passive Stereo Controller/Switch Box from SM Pro Audio offers passive volume control, as well as muting, mono/stereo summing, headphone monitoring, and output switching. This compact metal unit can be placed on a desktop or workstation, or even installed in a standard 19" equipment rack by using the included rack adapters.
The M-PATCH 2 uses totally passive volume attenuation with no active circuitry, buffers, transistors, batteries, or power supply that can interfere with the main passive output. This allows you to keep your software volume masters at unity to preserve bit-depth, resulting in pure and transparent sound with no degradation.
The rear panel has main XLR/TRS combo inputs, as well as aux RCA and 3.5mm inputs, allowing you to connect a variety of mic and line level devices such as computer sound cards, CD players, preamps, mixers, and more. The front panel rotary controls let you separately adjust the levels of the main and aux inputs. The unit has 2 stereo outputs, which have XLR connectors. Controls on the front panel let you select which input and which output are active, letting you mix and match the inputs and outputs you're controlling.
The M-PATCH 2 also has an internal headphone amplifier, which has a 1/4" stereo headphone jack with its own level control. This makes it easy to privately monitor your signals. There are also a stereo/mono switch and a mute button on the front panel for quick and easy control.
Note! While the M-PATCH 2 requires no power for volume attenuation, 12 VDC power is required to use the headphone amplifier. A power adapter is included.

I was very pleasantly surprised with the performance of the M-Patch 2. My experience with passive switches has generally been disappointing. Not so with the M-Patch 2. It has solid design, solid construction and quality parts. The switches are smooth. Construction is solid. Even though it is passive, the M Patch 2 had no DC offset or large impedance jumps that so often plague passive switches. Honestly, I was expecting a cheep passive switch, but I got a piece of Quality professional grade equipment.
