The IPS display has WXGA 1280 x 800 resolution, viewing angles up to 178° and is protected by a layer of scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass. There's 64GB of eMMC Flash storage and a 1GB DDR2 memory. The Prime runs an Android 3.2 Honeycomb OS, which is upgradeable to an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS. For proper multitasking and smooth HD 1080p video output, ASUS equipped the 10.1" tablet with an NVIDIA Tegra 3 Quad-Core Mobile Processor. The Transformer Prime also has an optional keyboard docking station (sold separately) that can be attached, providing access to a full QWERTY keyboard - transforming it from tablet to notebook.
For connectivity, the Transformer Prime features WLAN 802.11 b/g/n WiFi connectivity and Bluetooth V 2.1+EDR. The built-in SRS Sound technology provides maximum bass response and a wide sound field from the stereo speakers integrated into the tablet. The 2-in-1 audio jack utilizes a single jack as a headphone output and microphone input. There is also a digital array mic integrated into the tablet.
The portability of the Prime is enhanced by its lightweight and 0.33" thickness. Plus, as you turn the tablet in your hand, the G-sensor automatically changes the screen from portrait to landscape orientation. The Transformer Prime also includes a gyroscope, ambient light sensor, E-compass and GPS sensor. The Li-polymer battery lasts up to 12 hours and the user interface facilitates quick access to the tablet's software suite for easier on-the-move computing. Plus, if you choose to purchase the optional ASUS Transformer Prime Keyboard Docking Station, the battery life will be extended to 18 hours and you'll have the ability to swiftly transform your tablet into a full-on notebook with a full QWERTY keyboard, touchpad, USB 2.0 port and additional memory card reader.

I decided late last year to enter the tablet market as a replacement for my home laptop, or as close as I could get to it. My initial assumption was I'd get an iPad due to their overwhelming market penetration etc. and I already owned a few iPods including the Touch.
However, I was concerned at the limited control you have over Apple devices so decided to research wat else was out there. I quickly established that there were far better devices for my requirements and the Transformer with the docking keyboard quickly jumped out as the best of the options out there. I also established that the Prime was about to be released so decided to wait and but one of these.
The main features that clinched it for me were the USB slot (for external hard drives etc.), the fact the Android supports filemanager and drag and drop functionality (I find it inexplicable apple does not offer this and people accept it and still but them!!), it had two media card slots and an HDMI port also. The cutting edge new processor was a nice to have, and of course that keyboard really turns it into a laptop.
The software available does not yet allow me to fully replace my old laptop (but it will extend the life of it by years as i don't need to replace the one i have which is already over 3 years old...) however I feel the way things are moving this device is reasonably future-proof and the software available is growing all the time.
After deciding I wanted one the next challenge was finding one! I live in Australia so when thet were released here in mid-January all I could find were the dodgy 'gold' ones at a price of 900 AUD. i searched online and saw favourable reviews of B&H at delivering quality products to australia, but they had none in stock. I requested an email update from them and that duly came about two weeks ago. I jumped online and ordered both the tablet and keyboard (in grey colour), selected the cheapest UPS shipping and it was delivered 6 days later, at a total cost of 750 AUD including shipping. So very impressed with the service and it's working great so far.
I highly recommend the transformer Prime for the reasons above and I'll definitely use B&H again to source quality goods from outside of Australia when i can't get them here.

I really expected it to work as advertised but it doesn't. There are two major flaws that have been recognized by Asus publicly and they have commented on them on facebook. The GPS and WiFi performance are unacceptable. I think there will be many situations where you will not be able to connect in public places such as hotel rooms where signal strength is often marginal at best. I wish I had waited until they resolve this problem but as they say, early adopters bleed!

Comments about ASUS 64GB Eee Pad Transformer Prime 10.1" Tablet (Amethyst Gray):
I love this Tablet. It is my first, but my brother in laws have the IPad 1 and 2. I've worked in the computer industry for over 18 years now and just love the ASUS TF201.
I don't have any issues with WiFi. I get just about the same signal strength as my laptop, Bravia TV, and Google TV. I haven't tested the GPS yet, but like most, that's not why I bought this. My phone has 3G and I'll let it do all my map and direction needs.
This Tablet is so screaming fast I love it. I'm still getting used to everything, but so far I haven't run into too many hurdles. The keyboard is just a bit small, but it's built around a 10" device. So I love it. It also is fairly quite and very responsive. People have said they hit the mouse pad while typing, so thats been a concern. Really, my hands are positioned at such an angle, that I've hit the keypad maybe twice by mistake.
There was a bit of light bleed in from the edges when I first turned it on. But after the 4 updates I received in the two days after opening it up, no light bleeding at all.
Landscape to Portrait video issue has not been seen as well. This is where you change orientation, some have shown static along the boarders where no video is playing. I have not seen it. But again I've had quite a few updates right off.
Battery life is wonderful. I've definately put it through its paces to get the battery to drain and i get at least a day and a half. I haven't timed it, cause I'm not obsesive like that. But trust me, you will get many hours of fun out of it. I of course have the Keyboard which helps out.
I love the camera and video capture, but like most, probably won't use it much due to the size.
I also cannot tether it to my Droid A855 using WiFi which bites. I rooted my Droid and can connect with other devices. I however was sucessful in tethering it through bluetooth. Its slower, but good enough when I'm out and about.
I have noticed a flicker when on the homescreen like its trying to refresh the screen over and over. I've removed widgets and live wallpaper, but I still notice it now and then.
Over all I don't have anything bad to say about this device other than the few glitches i've mentioned.

The Transormer Prime has been everything I thought it would be. I listen to music on it, play games and have set up a calendar to use. The WiFi has worked well. The screen is very nice and bright.
I am still exploring the apps, but I have found a number that I like such as the Kindle and Pandora apps.
I waited a while for this and it was worth the wait.

Currently, only using this tablet for internet & email. Since I am used to Android based devices, it was fairly easy to pick up the controls. Google apps and media shopping are excellent.
Plan on getting the keyboard docking station soon to take full advantage of this tablet/ultrabook. Also want to add a high capacity sd card to the docking station in addition to the 32gb micro sd i have in the tablet already. Storage capacity will not be a problem.

Not enough case choices out yet. Love this tablet! Great screen, easy navigation. I've only owned it for 2 weeks so I still have a lot to try. Do wish it was 3 or 4g like my wifes ipad2. Constant internet is really a convenience!

Comments about ASUS 64GB Eee Pad Transformer Prime 10.1" Tablet (Amethyst Gray):
I've been using this tablet for reading, games, email, web browsing, calculator and star charting. I ordered the optional keyboard for it and that has been a great addition. All the programs run great, no issues with the WiFi, haven't used the GPS. This is my first tablet and I've had it for a couple weeks. All the updates installed without problems. I like that the keyboard charges the tablet battery when the two are connected. Very nice build quality. Fast perfomance with web pages and games.

Comments about ASUS 64GB Eee Pad Transformer Prime 10.1" Tablet (Amethyst Gray):
This is my fourth Android tablet. While not perect, this one is the best. I had the original Transformer, and I still have two Archos tablets as well as a funky generic. This thing is well designed generally. As an engineer and long time tablet user, I do notice a few minor flaws most people wouldn't, and this one is still the best.
It's quite speedy with smooth graphics. The touch is nicely refined. With the dock, the battery life is very long. The standby battery life is very very long.
For now, the WiFi and Bluetooth are very usable and a bit flawed. Again, most people would not notice.

Comments about ASUS 64GB Eee Pad Transformer Prime 10.1" Tablet (Amethyst Gray):
After researching tablets I decided to go with this one and I am extremly glad I did. I love the amethyst gray, beautiful screen display and the its perfect size. I am blown away by the beauty of the diplay and I feel like a little kid in a candy store when I am using it to play games and surf web. It is fairly easy to navigate but I am still in the learning phase. I have an Iphone but decided against an Ipad as I did not want to be confined to a certain market. The android market is fabulous and has lots of great free apps.
I am so glad I got one for the short time
B & H had it back in stock as another vendor had a one month wait. I cannot say enough good things about the Asus Prime. I do hope they make more covers available fairly soon as I have not gotten one yet. Also I have to mention that B & H has good customer service and fast shipping. I am one happy customer!!!

This is my first tablet, so I'm learning just how useful this product is. Thus far, I'm very impressed and I'm finding more and different uses daily. Being a senior, I found it easy to use/learn. It will be easy to take along anywhere.

I was almost sure I was going to return this item after waiting almost two months on back-order. I read article after article about poor wifi reception, and general poor performance. I have owned several android devices, and I can honestly say this is the king of them all so far. I will be keeping this device, and it was well worth the wait.

This little tablet is awesome, and have little to no complaints about this device. It Does everything i needed too, perfect for the long rides/travel with the extended battery keyboard dock. The UI is very smooth. Surprising it has one speaker its quite good in sound quality, not the loudest but nice full bodied sound.

Comments about ASUS 64GB Eee Pad Transformer Prime 10.1" Tablet (Amethyst Gray):
Some things are worth the wait. A PRIME example is the new ASUS Transformer Prime I recently received from B&H. Although the Tablet was backordered, the good people at B&H were prompt in keeping me updated on delivery estimates, and shipped it quickly as soon as they had it in the warehouse.
The tablet is spectacular! As soon as I had the battery charged, I was able to upgrade the OS to Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich, and I love it. The graphics are fantastic, with ultra smooth scrolling and video playback. The menus and functionality are very intuitive, and I was easily able to customize the home screen, create folders, and organize widgets to access all my favorite apps in a flash!
I use my ASUS Transformer Prime for email, web surfing, calendar planning, taking pictures and recording HD video, and it has impressed me in every category.
One of the main reasons I went with this tablet is the optional keyboard dock, as I planned to replace my laptop computer with this device as I continue to work on a novel I am writing, and wanted the ultraportability with the flexibility of using it as a tablet or a netbook. Polaris Office has been very helpful in continuing the novel, and I have been very productive already.
The pre-loaded software is great, and I am happy that there isn't a lot of bloatware on the tablet.
The only drawback to the Asus Transformer Prime was the long backorder time due to extremely high demand, but I understand availability is improving, and I highly recommend this tablet to anyone who wants cutting edge technology and performance, great looks and features, and a very versatile and productive tablet.

Every day I find more ways to use it at home and at work. I don't always have access to the Internet, so the 64GB comes in handy.
Updated to Android 4 smoothly, and I have not encountered any wifi problems that others have reported.
External speaker by itself is meh, but it works. Stereo through headphones is much better.

I did a fair amount of research into my first tablet purchase. I pre-ordered it on November 24 and recieved it on January 3. I am not disappointed. It is still a novelty as we are mostly trying out apts and playing games. I also use google a lot and check email. I use it for work entering data. But mostly I am having fun with my grandaughter and learning a bit more about technology.

Comments about ASUS 64GB Eee Pad Transformer Prime 10.1" Tablet (Amethyst Gray):
After the ICS update, this table far exceeds all expectations. I knew there was an issue with WiFi signal strength but I can certainly live with it. I've compared this tablet to the iPad 2 and I find it to be much more to my liking. Not better, just more to my liking.
If you like Android products, you'll love this tablet. I've switched over from iOS devices because they just didn't make sense to me.
The GPS and WiFi issues could be solved, but this is still a REALLY fast tablet.
