The SE-208AB Slim External DVD-Writer USB2 (Black) from Samsung has an exclusive audio / video connection technology available in it which allows users to easily connect the TV media in the drive to the USB port to play audio-visual content. The SE-208AB is also technologically stronger than the previous disc drive, which has so far recognized only the first-level sub-directories and 1000 files. The SE-208AB disc burner now recognizes and provides access to the fifth level sub-directories, and more than 3000 files.
External disc drive offers a variety of writing speeds of different types of media: 24X CD-ROM, 24X CD-RW and 8X DVD ± R 5X DVD-RAM, 6X DVD + R Dual Layer, 6X DVD-R Dual Layer, 8X DVD + RW and 6X DVD-RW disc for burning.

It is a little louder than I expected, but only to the level of "noticable"; not "loud" at all.
No problems installing this plug-n-play - I think Samsung with Samsung product pairing is definitely the way to go!
I have not used the portable purposing (A/V out) of the unit yet: I am interested to see how the controls work with the unit ("on-screen" or...otherwise?)
Definitely recommended as a companion to the Slate 7!

It might be a fine product, but the NERO software won't install, so I can't say for sure. NERO says I need a number of Microsoft programs installed in order for it to work. One (at least) won't install from the disk. I went to Microsoft. com and installed it manually. NERO still says it's not there, so the NERO software stops installing...and so I can't use the Samsung drive.

Bought this because my DVD laser on my macbook quit working, but I could still burn CDs. I do wedding Photography and need a DVD burner. This worked perfect. The only issue I have is the dual usb cords needed for use.

Good little external drive. Does what it needs to do. So far has not missfired, you know when you press the button to open the tray and refuses to do so, this one has responded everytime. Have deducted one star for the size of the pop out button which is not lighted and it's minuscule, sometimes making it very difficult to find it in low light and one needs to find it by touch only.

This was totally easy to set up and is lightweight and compact. It is the perfect companion for my ultrabook. I use this occasionally (2-3 times per week) so I am not sure how it would hold up with constant use, but for my needs, it is superb.

So far it does what it's supposed to do. You can't beat the size or the price. It does need two USB ports, but a $5 hub takes care of that if you have a laptop with one port per side. Using this with a MacBook Air and so far it's a great investment.

Worked perfectly w/Vista and Joli-Cloud on a netbook. Four stars because the burning software on the CD did not install on either computer even though it was listed for Vista. No problem, the burning software in Vista did well.
English instructions for setup a little weak, but the pictures were clear and all you needed.

This drive is light, cheap, and seems to work just great. I had a few moments of challenge until I noticed that the USB cable where it enters the drive needed a good push to seat completely. After that, all was just fine and this drive was certainly value priced.
