RCA DPH-1000R HDTV Recorder
The DPH-1000R HDTV Recorder from RCA is equipped with ATSC/QAM tuners, capable of recording over-the-air broadcast TV content to its built-in 250GB hard drive. It comes with composite video in and outs so you can record analog video from other devices, and also supports the playback of the recorded HD programs through the HDMI output.
It also allows you to view the JPEG photos you've burned to a DVD or CD on your computer with your JEG Viewer. What's more, this multimedia machine can also play and record using the scheduled recording option.

I does what it says it will, so read the specs carefully. It's fairly easy to set up and use, but I wouldn't recommend it for the technically challenged. The picture and sound quality are excellent. I also used it to put all my old VHS home movies onto an external hard drive. I've only used it for a month so I can't comment on it's longevity.

I tested one of these out with an antenna and came across a couple of issues/lack of features.
1) No time shifting - You cannot pause/rewind live TV
2) It cannot record two shows at once - It has a dual tuner, meaning you can record one show and watch another channel (or recording) at the same time.
For what it does, the unit seems to work well. The picture quality is nice and the interface is easy to navigate. Just do not expect a TiVO or a DTVPal DVR. Otherwise, you will be disappointed.

Was easy to set up but I ran into lots of problems that concern me. There is no phone number to call RCA when you have a question. B&H gave me a number that turned out to be a fax number. Fortunately, B&H allows return during the first 30 days. Problems? First, the internal clock is in military time. Why a 24 hour clock? Next, I lost sound to HDMI just the second time I used it. Third, the instruction manual is not written to tell the user anything. Overall, it was just a poor unit for me. I returned it!

I like this recorder. It was easy to set up. However, it has some flaws. The correct time was not correct when alowing the rcorder to set it. It was an hour slow, maybe reflecting a difference between Daylight Savings Time and how it was set up??? Also, when you record, because I had to manually set the time, it doesn't reflect the name of the recorded program. It just shows the channel. This can be a real pain if I get too many recordings.

Easy to set up, ease to use & has an excellent picture on recorded program using an HDMI feed to the TV. My problem with the unit was that there was NO closed captioning on the recorded programs.
For anyone with hearing loss that is a must.
