The Voigtlander Nokton Aspherical 35mm f/1.2 Lens II (Black) is a smaller, lighter version of Voigtlander's original 35mm f/1.2 Nokton lens. This is a very bright manual focus lens that features high-quality construction with classic styling, while using modern optical lens technology. It has a minimum focusing distance of 1.64' (50 cm). With a full-frame camera, this moderate wide-angle 35mm is amazingly versatile; with an APS-C camera, it's equivalent to an 52.5mm lens in 35mm format terms, making it ideal for portraits, travel, or photojournalism. Even at its widest aperture, this lens offers outstanding imaging performance throughout the focus range; excellent contrast; and superb rendition of detail.

Comments about Voigtlander Nokton Aspherical 35mm f/1.2 Lens II (Black):
I use for low light interior and street photography. Not up to Leica standards, but a LOT cheaper than its Leica counterpart. It is still a quite good lens and very good value for the price.

This is a great lens for an M Leica, but it really struts its stuff on a large Mb sensor. Amazing!

Comments about Voigtlander Nokton Aspherical 35mm f/1.2 Lens II (Black):
I use this lens for night photography and when I want to have a narrow depth of field in daytime photography. For the day time photography I use a 4X neutral density filter. I find this lens to be very sharp and contrasty. Also at night it has excellent coverage and color saturation. This really suprised me. I haver found it to be very versitile and excellent as a n all around lens for my M9. My onle complaint is the cost of the lens shade. Otherwise I find that I use it more than my Leica Summicron 35 Asp. One reason is the wieght and the other is the ability to focus very fast because of the size of the focusing ring. The extra weight helps to keep it steady. I highly recommend this lens. It is everything that others have said when they raved about this lens in the original model. So far we have found no diffeence between this model II and the legindary model I. I did not mention the buile quality but it is up there with my leica lens. Very solid and it has a vintage look that I relly prefer. One note to be careful of is the fact that it focuses to .5 meter but most rangefinder cameras focus to .7 meters. It is not a negative since many purchase this lens for SLR use. Maybe it will encourage Leica to modify their cam to focus to .5 meters!!
