The Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM Lens for Nikon offers an "all-in-one" super-zoom lens solution, from wide-angle to long telephoto. It provides the equivalent focal range of approx. 27-300mm when used with a Nikon digital SLR camera with an APS-C sized sensor. This lens has the OS (Optical Stabilizer) system, which minimizes image blur caused by camera shake, and offers the equivalent of shooting at a shutter speed 2-3 stops faster. This allows handheld telephoto zoom shooting even in poorly lit conditions. It also includes a Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) for quiet, high-speed autofocus.
The 18-200mm's optical design incorporates aspherical lenses and SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass, which provides the utmost correction for all types of aberrations. It also enables this extended super-zoom lens to be housed in a compact and lightweight construction.
DC lenses are exclusively designed for digital SLR cameras. The image circle (rear of lens) is sized to match the smaller dimensions used for the APS-C image sensor found on many digital cameras. As a result these lenses are also more compact and lightweight, and are better matched to digital SLR cameras.
Note! (*) Not suitable for 35mm film SLR cameras or for any digital SLR camera with image sensor bigger than APS-C size.

F6.3 at 200mm is not a problem, it focuses even faster than the Nikon 18-55mm VR lens (really!)
OS works well, I was able to take pictures in low-light situation (indoor) at 200mm hand-holding (but with high ISO, at about 1/50s).
Buy this if you are looking for "simple" everyday lens with zoom range, it produces reasonable quality!

Landscape, wildlife. The lens can be finicky sometimes stopping its autofocus function with Nikon cameras. This means removing and reattaching the lens (for best results). Can be very soft around the edges throughout the focal length. What I was hoping to be a primary lens is now relegated to only very specific uses in good light where I am assured of positive focus.

Comments about Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM Lens for Nikon:
I recently ordered this lens before a trip to Amsterdam and through parts of Belgium. I wanted a 'do-it-all' lens of sorts and it hasn't let down.
Having the ability for wide or zoom with one lens is truly great as it lightens the load for travel.
Don't think I'd use this lens much on certain projects but for a general travel lens it's hard to beat. I was skeptical at the thought of not bringing along my 'sharper' lenses but overall I'm quite happy.
No major complaints, I do wish there was an option/model that was constant f/3.5 (or better) throughout the zoom range but I realize that would be a big added cost.
I have noticed a bit of distorion at 18mm but not too bad. Stablization seems to work fairly well too as I didn't bring a tripod along this time and most images at 200mm were pretty sharp.
Overall good lens!

Great travel lens not too heavy and easy to use. The zoom works smoothly and focus fast on my D60. I did find that its soft at the corners and at the full zoom. Reviews I have read the lenses that are double the price have the same problem. Soft at the full zoom end. For the money you can't beat it.

I just shot a horse show and loved this lens. It is quick and crisp! The shoot was on a very overcast day and it worked out beautifully! I would definitively buy this lens again.

Comments about Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM Lens for Nikon:
I've been using this lens on an old D70s on my twice-weekly hikes for the past few weeks. The zoom range is very useful and image quality is quite good. It has the appearance of good quality construction and I haven't had any major problems with it. A minor annoyance is that if I'm walking with the lens facing downward, it ends up at the maximum zoom range in a couple minutes, no matter what focal length I had it at for the last shot. The other minor thing is that attaching the lens cap is a bit fussy. However, the lens was good value for the price.

Comments about Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM Lens for Nikon:
My Nikon 18-55mm VR died and wanted to replace it with an "everyday" lens. This one is a little bit heavier than the 18-55, but not much to make a difference. Also, it is as short as the 18-55 so it fits well in my camera bag. Of, course if you extend the zoom it longer, but that is not how you store it. You need a 62 mm filter szie, so the ones in my 18-55 did not fit.
Quality of pictures is good with no clear distortion to me. When changing focus from close to far, the AF is a little bit slow, but you will have to get adjusted.
The OS feature works well and has not kept me from taking any quick shots.
