The 120 GB PortaGig50 SSD Portable Solid State Drive from Glyph Technologies is a fast, powerful, and compact portable solid state drive perfect for media professionals. With dual FireWire 800 ports, a USB 2.0 port and an eSATA port, the portable drive can connect to a wide variety of devices. The drive supports a bus-powered option, or can be powered using the provided AC adapter. Solid state allows seek times as low as 0.1ms and a fast 3.0 Gb/s maximum data transfer rate. Boasting 120 GB of space, the PortaGig SSD is a high-quality drive for all your media needs.
- Robust
- PortaGig SSD has a distinct advantage over standard 2.5" HDDs. It's made of solid-state memory and has no moving parts, thus eliminating the possibility of mechanical failure resulting from vibration, shock or heat. In remote production situations, the PortaGig SSD can operate reliably for a greater number of hours, in hotter environments and under tougher conditions. Another advantage of no moving parts is that the SSD has near-instantaneous read access time! Enjoy virtually immediate data delivery.

- No noise at all is generated from the PortaGig SSD, and far less power is needed for operation, meaning less heat is generated, as well. This feature also significantly saves on weight.

- PortaGig SSD drives boast very fast access speeds, which makes them an ideal match for remote audio / video work. In an audio environment, you will enjoy awesome playback performance, even at high edit density. Using their Digidesign Pro Tools™ test sessions (playback only), Glyph had a hard time finding the limits of the PortaGig SSD. To compare, their PortaGig 50 (using a 7,200 rpm HDD) reliably plays 26 tracks of 48 KHz/24-bit audio, with 3 edits/second across each track. The PortaGig 50 SSD plays 128 tracks in this scenario--over 100 tracks higher than the standard PortaGig 50, at the hardest edit density. 1

- Engineered with a fanless aluminum enclosure, PortaGig 50 SSD is bus powered and very light. If bus power is unavailable or insufficient, you may use the included power supply. Weighing a mere 0.4 lb, the PortaGig 50 SSD has two FireWire 800 ports, one eSATA port, one USB 2.0 port, and a rear power switch, and is designed around the industry-proven Oxford 934 chip.

- The built-in ECC (Error Correction Code) functionality ensures reliable data transfer, and wear leveling technology redirects writes to less frequently-used areas, for longer life span and data retention.
