The Yamaha YHT-S401 Home Theater Package (Black) is a unique theater design with a subwoofer-integrated receiver and an extremely slim front speaker that fits in front of almost any TV.
The YHT-S401's sound bar stands at 2.1" (5.5 cm) high and fits in front of most 32 to 50" TVs without blocking the screen. In addition, the feet of the sound bar can be adjusted horizontally or vertically, or taken off entirely, for additional installation flexibility. By integrating the system's subwoofer into the receiver, Yamaha is able to offer users an easy connection to a full-featured receiver without adding a separate component and the ability to place the unit in a rack or on the floor in tight spaces.
The UniVolume technology maintains a consistent volume level between different channels, programs, commercials and input sources. When watching TV while using UniVolume, the volume of commercials will not be louder than the program being viewed. The same is true when switching sources to watch a DVD or Blu-ray movie or to listen to music on CD. This is particularly helpful for late night watching and listening when spikes in volume can startle other viewers.
With 7-channel discrete inputs, AM/FM tuner and connectivity to virtually any A/V source, your entertainment choices are endless with Yamaha's YHT-S401.

Comments about Yamaha YHT-S401 Home Theater Package (Black):
bought this system for my kids play room its 14x12 so i didn't want to spend to much money but still needed bigger sound than what came with my new flat screen the screen is so flat theirs no room for good speakers. I didn't want a big system because its a small room so I bought 2 sm orb speakers for the rears and this thing rocks I can't turn it up past halfway without the wife yelling at me ,Its just awsome.I have a $20,000 sound system in my basement and find myself watching 3d movies with my kids rather then going to my theater room.Just enough ports for my dvd ps3 stb and 1 wire to the tv.I can't recommend this system enough its just perfect for a smaal room

Comments about Yamaha YHT-S401 Home Theater Package (Black):
Great sound quality, really like the Clear Voice feature for bringing out spoken word especially when watching TV. Barely notice the sound bar in front of the TV, although I have to hold the remote high to turn off the TV even with the plastic gizmo device that is supposed to help with that.
Very easy set up. I like the way all cables go to the unit (blu ray, cable box etc) and only one goes to the TV - much tidier.
The downside is that the dynamic surround is not as good as I'd expected. I know it's not a full surround system, which is why I like the idea of being able to add 2 rear speakers, but I find the left to right dynamic disappointing too. I guess these speakers just aren't far enough apart to give that effect.
None-the-less I'm contented and will keep the system, certainly a leap up from the TV speakers. I do feel more engaged in a movie with the sound I now get from this system. Eventually this will move from the livingroom to a secondary entertainment system, probably in the basement, and I'll get something else instead.
