The PT-AR100U Full HD Projector produces bright, sharp images by employing a new, high-power 280W red-rich lamp and optical unit that combine to generate 2800 lumens of brightness for comfortable viewing in various lighting conditions.
Together with 2800 lumens of brightness, Panasonic's Light Harmonizer 3 technology assists the versatile use of the projector by automatically adjusting the picture quality of the image to match the living room or theater room conditions. This is made possible by utilizing built-in ambient light and color sensors that adjust the white balance, gamma curve, and sharpness settings to maintain bright, crisp pictures that match the viewing environment.
The digital image processing circuit brings greater clarity and sharpness to details, by reproducing fine nuances that were lost due to image compression. After a two dimensional analysis of the video signal's frequency in each scene, the new circuit optimizes the sharpness of each image portion based on the extracted information.
The PT-AR100 has two HDMI input terminals for digital transmission without image degradation. The HDMI input terminals also support Deep Color and the x.v.Color color space of the 1.3 standard. Deep Color provides 10-bit (over 1.07 billion) and 12-bit (over 68.7 billion) color depths for smooth gradation between colors, while x.v.Color compliance reproduces natural, lifelike images.

I'm projecting from 13ft to a 133" diag. 1.1 gain screen. Ceiling mount is 8 ft and projector is lowered 3.5" by mount.
My room is a well lit with windows on either side of screen and also to the rear. I have the ability to block out most light.
This Panny IS a light cannon. It very nicely projects in a daylight lit room. At night with 11 65watt floods, dimmed to 50% it is great.
Lowering the light level brings out the exceptional.
A few concerns that I have read about seem to be exaggerated. Fan noise is not an issue. I have it directly overhead of seating. It is NOT noticeable. It is not TOO bright or washed out even in full dynamic in the dark. But, toned down a bit to cinema 1 on eco seems to be the most theater like in a darkend room. I am nearly as close to the screen, given it's size that this projector can get. Meaning, wide angle lens with close proximity gets you brighter picture.
I can tell no discernable edge irregularities or focus problems and is proven by the well defined test patterns available with this unit.
Mounted directly overhead of the seated position allows for game play, standing 3-4 ft infront of the seats without shadows.
The amount of vertical and horizontal shift available should be more than enough for any install scheme. It's not an issue.
Blacks, shadows and colors all gorgeous. As clear as any LCD/LED and no discernable motion artifact. All are non-issues.
Yes, you get what you pay for. But, sometimes as with audiophiles will attest, after a point there is very little noticable improvment for the logrythmic amounts of money that can be spent to attain perfection.
So, go ahead. You all seaking perfection. Paint your ceiling black. Paint the walls black and install foam baffeling. Or, just kick back and enjoy what this Panasonic has to offer while having your friends, and most espicially your wife ooh and awww over the fact that your space looks like a nice normal room.

Second projector from Panasonic. It is brighter, sharper than then the older model. It also works well in a fairly bright room in the day, as well at night in the dark

What more can you ask in a girl friend....or of your HD projector. Well I do have to say I am in love with the picture quality and that this is probably the best projector that you can get for the money. That being said, I have read alot on projectors under $2000 but haven't actually own any other than this one. I am a one projector man. This unit is quite. You will not be disappointed.

I have the projector in a dedicated media room, but I didn't want it to be 100% dark at all times. This projector is perfect when the lights are on and off. It has the tilt feature which allows you to adjust the screen without moving the projector. It's big, but not too bulky and it is very quiet (it hangs just over our heads). Buy this and you won't be disappointed.

After a long time researching I decided to buy this projector...the image quality is superb.
Discovery channel HD looks incredible.
I'm using it only in ECO mode and it's still very bright.
I'm projecting it to a wall from 16ft, in my living room.
Nothing to complain so far.

This if my first home projector. I debated for a long time between this one and few other 1080 Projs. i've considered 4 projectors Optoma HD33,Epson 8350,3010 & Panny Ar100u The price difference was just $300 but panny won the race coz its going to be on my living room.
Overall buying experince from BH was great, guys are very professional and they delivered it in time

Love:
- Lens Shift

Only downer to this projector is the noise, which is fairly audible in full lamp mode. Econo mode isn't too bad, but still more noisy than my PT-AX100u that this is replacing. Also, the physical size of the projector was unexpected, this thing is big!
Overall, great picture, great clarity, good setup utilities and very bright. I use it in a living room with multiple windows so a fair bit of ambient light gets in. Even in vivid-cinema mode it is very pleasant to watch movies on with significant ambient light.

I use it in the living room, where there's always some ambient light. The extra lumens definitely help. There's no question that for the given price, it's by far the best quality projector one can get, period. The only 2 downfalls are it's large size and below average lamp life.

This if my first home projector. I debated for a long time between this one and Panasonic's new 3D projector 1000u. The price difference was $1500 which ultimately helped me make my decision.
The 100u is an awesome projector. I watched Avatar and The Dark Knight one after another on the first day and the picture quality was stunning! I had my window blinds open for part of Avatar and was still able to identify all colors and blacks. It is true what they say about Panasonic projectors - they are good in rooms with ambient light.
The reason why I chose BH for making the purchase was 'coz they were the only ones offering a $300 mail-in-rebate. I've purchased two digital cameras from them before and am happy I bought my projector from them as well.

Comments about Panasonic PT-AR100U Full HD Projector:
This projector surpassed in quality every device I hooked up to it. Satellite TV, Blu-ray DVD,a WII player that plays TV shows and movies as well as WII games. I projected in on an 84" fixed gray screen and anyone who comes in thinks I have an 84" plasma TV hanging on my wall. The colours are sharp and accurate and the blu-ray movies are as good as if played in a movie theatre. I installed the projector under my window valance and to the delight of my wife it looks good there. Although the projector is large it is well made and attractive. The only thing it doesn't have is 3D capability but I am not at all interested in this feature so to me this projector is close to perfect.

This is my fourth projector (Dell, Pany, Epson, and this one). I have been waiting for 1080 projectors to come down in price before making the jump. I'm glad I did! My setup is in a living room with lots of light. This projector shines as advertised! I can watch this with the blinds open! Worth every penny, especially with the mail-in rebate!
