The black ACPRO2000 Digital SLR and Laptop Backpack from Ape Case may be small in stature but it's sure large on function. Within its 15.4 x 19.25 x 10.1" (39.1 x 48.9 x 25.7 cm) frame is a backpack that will hold enough gear to keep you going for a long time. The interior is rated to hold your DSLR with a 70-200 f/2.8 attached as well as another 4-5 lenses, accessories as well as your 16.0" Laptop (40.6 cm) laptop held in its own padded and secured compartment. A touch fastened tab holds the laptop in place. However, it doesn't stop there. Zippered storage compartments can be used for small stuff like filters, cables, adapters and memory cards.
The bag is made with a tough water-resistant nylon exterior and also comes with a built-in, pull out rain cover that can be rapidly deployed when you're caught in a rain storm. An adjustable harness system allows the bag to be tailored to your body and the sternum strap keeps it balanced while walking.
Inside, there are multiple movable Hi Vis yellow dividers that can be configured to fit your gear and that also help illuminate the interior when in low light. As mentioned, there's a separate computer compartment as well as a large mesh accessory pocket for filters, maps, cleaning cloths or business cards. That is complimented by another cleverly placed zippered pocket within the back flap. Inside that area you can store more accessories like cables, pens and adapters.
For the nature photographer, there's a handy tripod holder comprised of a tuck-away pocket for the feet and adjustable strap for the legs. Water bottle holder and hidden cell phone slot finish off this well-priced and full-featured pack that is backed by Ape's lifetime warranty against manufacturer's defects.

Let me tell you that I definitely did not expect this backpack to be this big. It's definitely a full size unit that a lot of other brands sell for two-three hundred dollars. The only reason it's not is because it doesn't have roller wheels or an extension handle but since I don't travel in the airports a lot and mostly use it on my back, it's not problem. So let's start with the pros:
Pros:
-This this is big. I mean huge. I intended to only fit my camera gear (I'm a semi-professional DSLR film maker) and have a separate case for my audio equipment. I crammed my Canon 7D with Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 lens, a 70-200mm f2.8 lens, my kit 18-135mm lens, batteries, CF cards, intervalometer, two circular filters, and two 3ft. HDMI cables and STILL had so much extra room that I just fitted the rest of my audio gear into it too! So I packed in my Zoom H4n, batteries for that, a pistol grip with a 20ft XLR cable, Rode NTG-2 shotgun microphone, and SD cards for the H4n. And everything fits snugly, not squished, but snug. I feel like everything is well protected. Oh and it also holds my 15" Macbook Pro very snug too.
-So many pockets! I had this backpack for almost two weeks now and I'm still discovering new folds of pockets. The bright yellow interior does make finding small things like screws and other dark accessories stand out though I can see it getting dirty easily but the material is safe enough to take a damp towel to wipe anything down.
-Weather sealing! Even when you don't need the built-in rain cover, all the zippers on this backpack are heavy duty and fold underneath a layer of weather resistance fabric to keep them from being exposed. Yes it might be difficult sometimes to having to fold up this layer to slide the zippers smoothly but it's a small inconvenience when your transporting your gear in light rain and don't want any water inside. And for those pouring days, the rain cover completely covers every corner of the backpack to your back and even wraps around the top of the shoulder straps to ensure maximum coverage. The only thing is this cover isn't removable, meaning you can't really throw it in the washer if it gets really dirty but again, nothing a damp towel can't clean up.
-Extremely comfortable to wear. The padding, the waist belt, the chest strap, everything makes this backpack wearable for an entended period of time. The air-mesh backing really makes a difference and although this backpack is probably three times heavier than my old backpack, I enjoy how the weight is distributed on my body with the ApeCase and it just feels better to wear than anything else I've tried. The straps are well made along with the extremely heavy duty top handle which reminds me of the Pelican Case handles. Yeah.
Cons:
-This thing is heavy when fully loaded. It's a given though, the larger the case, the more stuff that can go in, the heavier it will be.
-Front compartment is too tiny to access. The actual front compartment is large enough to put in a folder and a spiral notebook along with mesh pockets for card readers, flashlights, laptop mice, pens, etc but the front zipper, when fully openly, doesn't seem to give me much space to access inside. I had to bend the notebook and folder to fit in the opening but once inside there's plenty of room. I just don't know why they made it so difficult to access. It's only a minor bug.
-Not meant for quick access of camera! A lot of camera backpacks there are made so you can quickly take out your camera and a few accessories really quick for that 'moment' shot should you encounter it while traveling with the case on your back. This backpack however is built like a tank! And I mean to access your camera you need to open two layers of zippered compartments and undo a safety strap over the camera section. However I do planned studious shoots so the run and gun style isn't my game. Some of you might take this as the deal breaker and may reconsider if quick access is most important to you. This case is made for ultimate protection and quick access would have counteracted that.
That's it. Wow what a long review. Hope it wasn't too long to read. I believe the pros strongly outweigh the cons and so all the cons were justified by their pro counterparts, except for the small front compartment, but I can let that slide and give this pack 5 full stars.

Much bigger and heavier than I expected. No fault of B&H Photo. They listed the size and weight. Just didn't realize what a monster of a bag it would be. I had to return it for something smaller (but still fit a 16" laptop.) Went with a Case Logic. The quality doesn't seem as good as the ape case, but it's definitely a better fit for my small amount of gear.

This bag is amazing. The only problem is once I got it in the mail I realized that it was way to big for what I needed. If you are buying a similar bag be sure to do more reseach on the bag size. Ape Case has three very similar bags. This the Pro2000, the Pro1900 and the Pro1800. In my situation with the 5D MKIII, two lenses and a flash I need the Pro1800.

Comments about Ape Case ACPRO2000 Digital SLR and Laptop Backpack (Black):
I bought this bag knowing that it was going to be much to large for my current gear, but with the intent to use it as my collection expands, and it's size is far greater than I was expecting. This backpack will fit tons of gear and all the compartment sizes are customizable. Currently I have my 60D w/ 18-135 mm lens attached, 140 LED light, zoom H4n audio recorder and a boom mic with lots of room to spare.
It feels very sturdy and is comfortable to wear. If you plan to travel with it I would check the carry on guidelines carefully to be sure you can bring it without issues.

I bought this bag to move my equipment and laptop when traveling. It easily fit 2 bodies (7D)with bat packs attached and one with a mounted 70-200. I also carried 2 additional lenses, a 2x multiplier, a flash, and chargers for everything. Pleanty extra room for straps and such. This bag will not be great for a day bag as it is to big IMO. As far as a carry on, it fit in the overhead flying with jet blue. I had a small "personal bag" with me as well and did not have to check anything. I think this bag is well built for the price and plan to use it 3-4 time per year. I also bought a small backpack for day trips.

I am a college student for broadcast and work part-time for a news station covering high school sports. I use this pack to carry thousands of dollars in personal gear and I have never felt SO safe with a pack before. It carries EVERYTHING I need. My laptop, canon HV20, sports book, batteries, LED light, chargers, USB microphone, handheld mic, wireless mic, lots of cables, portable external disk drive. I can't list all it holds and there is STILL room. I tolds my tripod, monopod and shoulder mount. This was well worth the money and I received it quickly from B&H.

I have a couple large lenses that I carry on a regular basis. This pack fits two bodies, both lenses and a few other items. Great backpack and worth every penny. I found nothing comparable in this range. This is not a day pack, but one to move a large abount of gear safely and securely.

Comments about Ape Case ACPRO2000 Digital SLR and Laptop Backpack (Black):
Awesome pack! I wanted a full size backpack to carry all my equipment and have room to grow. The ACPRO2000 is that backpack and at a reasonable price. Lots of room. Plenty of pockets, holds my laptop and tripod. This size backback was way out of my price range with other packs I looked at. My only concern (not flaw) is the tripod attaches horizontally at the bottom and not vertically. Most interiors are black or grey so equipment and pack blend. The yellow interior is great...separates black camera, black lens, from pack and makes it easier to see my equipment. When it arrived, I looked it over thoroughly. Seams look well made, love the rain cover, padded straps and strap around waist for extra support and is stylish. Quite lightweight for this big pack. The only full size backpack I've seen in that price range. Love it!

This backpack is pretty good. It's a little bulky but it gets the job done.
The best part is that I can adjust the cubbies inside that hold the camera and lenses. This bag holds my Canon 5D, 15" Macbook Pro, 24-105 EF lens, 50 mm f/1.4, Canon Speedlight 580EX II, Tripod, batteries, notebooks, etc.. and I still have a ton of space left. Doesn't hurt that it's weatherproof as well. This is overall a good, rugged backpack. The only downside is that my Canon 5D doesn't fit perfectly even after I adjusted the cubbies so, the camera looks a little lopsided. But, it does go in all the way so, it's protected.

What i like the most its how it doesnt seem like a camera bag at all. makes me feel safer to,

Love this pack! It's actually bigger than I thought it would be. Holds all my gear and then some. Have 2 Nikon bodies and a big 2.8 plus my Mac. Best and biggest I could find for the money and quality seems excellent as well. Love the yellow interior. Did not realise it has a built in rain cover too.
