Comments about Amped Wireless High Power Wireless-N 600 mW Smart Router:
It was a bit of a pain in the rear-end to set up.
Also, for those of you upgrading/replacing your current router, keep in mind all of the devices you have hooked to that router that require the router information - those all will have to be accounted for and modified

Comments about Amped Wireless High Power Wireless-N 600 mW Smart Router:
This (wireless+wired) router is used in a home network as the NAT router serving one of four subnetworks. This subnetwork is for wireless devices/computers and for guests, young kids, and others who may unknowingly invite bad stuff into the network.
Each of the other three subnetworks has its own wired NAT router serving it. All four NAT routers are wired into the LAN ports of an entry NAT router which is wired to a separate cable modem. This configuration isolates each subnetwork from the other three for improved security and confidentiality.
The primary virtue of the Amped R10000 router is its excellent and controllable wireless range.
However, the current version of the router does not appear to meet the needs of advanced users.
- Some important settings are missing (e. g., one to disable its SPI firewall, when the router is used as the second router in series with another SPI-capable router, in order not to slow down the connection speed by duplicating the packet inspection process).
-The SPI firewall parameters are not adjustable.
- It takes forever to change the router settings that are adjustable.
- And if you have only a Firefox browser you cannot change many of the settings.
The router is configured with settings on 25 pages reached via the browser on your computer.
Warning #1! Activating the router setting changes is VERY slow. Changes to settings must be written to the router separately for each page (of the 25 page menu). And, each page of revised settings takes about 100 seconds to be written to the device. Set aside an extra hour or so if you choose to do a manual setup and/or if you wish to make extensive revisions to the default settings (as advanced users normally would).
Warning #2! Changing router settings will work only with Chrome, Safari, and newer (v. 8+) MSIE browsers. You can NOT reliably change settings with a Firefox browser. This limitation is only stated in one place - on p. 56 of the User Guide. (It should be spelled out as a warning message in Item 6 in the Setup Guide.)
