The Panasonic External Electronic Viewfinder for DMC-GX1 is an optional viewfinder for the DMC-GX1 Micro 4/3 camera. Just mount this on the camera's hot shoe, and you've got a superb 1,440,000-dot equivalent color viewfinder image, with all of the same information that's displayed on the LCD screen. It displays 100% of the image, and works particularly well in bright sunlight (always tough on LCD displays). The viewfinder also tilts up 90° to make low-angle shots easier than ever. Because it mounts on the camera's hot shoe, it can't be used with a shoe-mounted flash on the camera.

Comments about Panasonic External Electronic Viewfinder for DMC-GX1:
I've found the LCD screen on the GX1 hard to see even on overcast days,so the EVF is an essential purchase.I've noticed that under-saturated pictures show up fine through the viewfinder but look poor on my computer, but that's just a matter of compensating; scenery shots should look vivid on the EVF, then the shot will be good.
I'm very happy with the viewfinder and use it indoors as well as out.Highly recommended.

Comments about Panasonic External Electronic Viewfinder for DMC-GX1:
I like having a viewfinder on my camera and most smaller sized cameras do not have one. This makes a great camera - DMC-GX1 - even better by providing the ability to have a viewfinder as part of a small format package. It works perfectly, beautifully built, has a great diopter adjustment (cleverly hidden so it cannot be accidentally adjusted), and tilts. For me this makes the DMC-GX1 an over the top camera.

Comments about Panasonic External Electronic Viewfinder for DMC-GX1:
I've had this viewfinder on my new GX1 for only one day, but immediately fell in love with it. I'm sending it back only because my copy has an annoying defect - a small scratch that appears to be on an internal element of the device - but I will immediately repurchase it for a hopefully more pristine copy. The ability to tilt the viewfinder up to 90 degrees and to remove it from the camera when traveling makes it far more flexible than electronic viewfinders that are permanently attached to their camera bodies. If, like me, you struggle with using an LCD to compose in bright sunlight, you'll find this to be an indispensible tool.

Comments about Panasonic External Electronic Viewfinder for DMC-GX1:
Perfect to use in outdoors or with bright light. The only con is that when there is too much light the image pixelates. Something tha didn't happened with the viewfinder for GF1.
The viewfinder for GF1 wasn't as bulky as this one and came with a nice little case that you could attach to the camera strap and prevent damage since it wasn't soft. This one doesn't came with tha case so you have to carry it apart and on a little bag that doesn't help prevent any damage.

I love this product and find it a must for the Gx1. I have the Olympus epl2 also with the viewfinder and this one feels more solid and what I like it doesnt slip off since to release it there is a small button. I use it for street photos and what is great you can tilt it so you look down when taking a photo and making the photographer much less obvious and it is great for shooting at a low angle. reminds me of the feel of my old leica with a viewfinder

Comments about Panasonic External Electronic Viewfinder for DMC-GX1:
A great accessory for the GX 1. I personally like to frame my compositions with a viewfinder. The 1,440,000-dot equivalent resolution gives me very good quality ( EVF always look more like a video view finder than a DSLR's Mirror viewfinder) The tilt feature is a real plus (especially over the Sony NEX 7 fixed built in EVF). I can angle the this viewfinder to get those difficult close ups, low angle shots and it is a real plus when shooting video. Price is a bit high but for me the benefits out weigh the slightly higher cost. It displays 100% of the image, and is great in bright sunlight
