Dazzle Video Creator Platinum HD from Pinnacle is a hardware/software package that converts video from any analog or digital device – whether an old VCR, a camcorder, or a gaming console – with either an S-Video or composite video (RCA) output. That means most video devices from the past 20 years.
The keystone of the package is the Dazzle USB capture device, with an RCA composite video input, an S-Video input, stereo analog audio inputs, and a USB 2.0 output. If you've got a free USB 2.0 input on your Windows computer and some free hard drive space, you can use the Dazzle device to start capturing video to your computer, so you can edit it with the included software and share it just about any digital way you can imagine – to YouTube, on DVD, or to files that are compatible with iPods, Sony PSP, or Microsoft Xbox.
And don't stop at mere editing. Pinnacle Studio HD version 15 software helps you create multi-stream video effects and apply pre-defined themes with ease. It includes 1800 effects and titles, so you can customize and personalize your refreshed video just about any way you can imagine. The Windows software package also helps you create DVD menus. The included Hollywood FX (volumes 1-3) adds another 1000 professional-level transitions and effects, removing any last, lingering limits on your creativity.
Note! Video capture is not in HD. You can use S-Video or composite video outputs on an HD camcorder to capture video, however.

Comments about Pinnacle Dazzle Video Creator Platinum HD:
I bought Pinnacle Studio HD version 15 with the Dazzle video connection. It was easy to install and was so easy to get started I created my first edited video (copied from a VHS tape) within a short time using text title frames.
My only problem was the instructions that comes with the Dazzle breakout box talked about starting teh "instant DVD recorder" which I could not find so I had to import the VHS recorder and then "create a movie" which gets written on the DVD. This requires twice the time direct recording would takje but not an issue if teh tape isn't too long.

Comments about Pinnacle Dazzle Video Creator Platinum HD:
I used the Dazzle to capture movies on video tape. I hooked it up to my Sony Digital 8 camera that uses small video tapes. I copied a few shorts from different tapes. When watching the playback on small screen the resolution is not too bad but when you enlarge the screen for a 22 inch monitor the quality is bad. I transferred one movie to DVD to play in my blue ray player and the resolution was terrible. I hooked up the Sony camera to play the original tape and the movie was light night and day. My orignal tapes are still good quality but the Dazzle transfer cannot even get close to the same quality. I am returning it.

I recently purchased this product for my sixteen year old son for two reasons...1) to make a video for a History assignment and 2) for making videos while playing Xbox. The product is easy to use, easy to hook up and a lot of fun. Awaiting the grade from his History video.

Comments about Pinnacle Dazzle Video Creator Platinum HD:
I have a ton of VHS tapes that need editing and put onto different media. The Dazzle hardware coupled with the HD software make this an excellent value. I have used earlier versions of the Pinnacle software and found it to be more than adequate for my needs. The manual is huge, over 450 pages, but it is an easy read. Biggest problem that I had was in not turning the VHS on. Like all video, it is slow during rendering but that is to be expected.

I mix video and sound from two different sources into the Dazzle recording software. It really does a great job. I am very satisfied.
