After looking at everything on the market I decided to buy this unit. It is simple and works great with no issues. The loader is simple to load slides and the copy time is about 2 seconds a slide. I have done several hundred slides with great results. You still need a photo program to correct the old slides color and contrast.

Using the converter to quickly catalog more than 3000 family photos and transfer to a digital frame for casual viewing.
Operation is very fast and easy: load slides into holder (it even manages to handle glass mounted slides), place holder in converter, adjust framing (exposure can be adjusted in ½ EV increments if needed), then hit convert button and select OK. More than 100 slides/hr is possible and with someone to load/unload extra holders could be even faster.
Concept is similar to a slide copy adapter for SLR cameras in that the unit consists of a 14 Mpixel camera that simply takes a picture of the slide. Approximately 90% of frame is covered which might be an issue if images are very tightly framed already. Images produced are 4608 x3072 pixels (matching 35mm aspect ratio of 3:2) and JPEGs are about 1.8 Mb.
Image quality generally fell below expectations but reviews of similar units seemed to portray less favorable results compared to the previous generation of Wolverine converters. Properly exposed low contrast originals produced acceptable results, but high contrast originals tend to cause the converter's auto exposure to blow out the highlights. Adjusting exposure to compensate resulted in darker mid-tones than the original and complete loss of shadow detail. This implies a limited dynamic range for the sensor. Color balance seemed fairly close to original Kodachrome slides, but Ektachrome slides tend towards brownish red even when no such fading appeared in original. There is no option to adjust the converter output towards warmer or colder color. Batch processing in Photoshop to auto correct and resize the originals generally produced acceptable results when viewed on a photo frame.
Negative conversion seemed to show a tendency towards inverse vignetting where the central image was darker than the edges. This was not evident in the original negative. Illumination seemed more uniform across the entire frame with slides. The converter has no baffle to block the display's backlight from reflecting off the film's shiny base surface and perhaps this was the source of the problem because the negatives do not seem to be held as flat as slides are in their frame.
In summary, if your purpose is to quickly catalog a slide collection this converter is up to the task. If you are interested in achieving the truest reproduction of the image, plan to use a more time consuming option such as a flatbed or dedicated film scanner.

Comments about Wolverine 14 MP 35mm Slides & Negatives To Digital Image Converter:
I read reviews on this and they were iffy, but for the price our office went with this one. I think it's a handy device. There were issues with side lighting in the reviews, but I thought the lighting adjustment was fine. I tried both slides and negatives, the slides being from our office and the negatives being local history from the 50's that I was having no luck scanning on from my printer to invert in Photoshop. They came out great!
The device is easy to use, hooks up to your laptop or tower for power or it has a handy removable wall plug that the usb cord plugs into.
A memory card does NOT come with the unit so you'll want something with a decent amount of memory. A 1 GB would only hold about 7 or 8 pics from the negatives.

Comments about Wolverine 14 MP 35mm Slides & Negatives To Digital Image Converter:
Good points:
1. very quick scans - 1.5 to 2 seconds, uses a built-in digital camera
2. resolution is OK but not super great
3. rudimentary exposure value/flip picture capability
Not so great:
1. slide tray is awkward to use, negative tray even more awkward
2. on-board memory holds maybe 8 photos - buy yourself an SD card and plug it into the back slot - if you don't, you fill up the memory quick, have to dump it, then reformat it prior to doing more scans
3. slides must be clean - shows every little piece of dust/lint, etc
4. menu is a bit confusing
5. slides should be properly exposed for best results - poor quality slides will result in murky scans, and dark corners
6. slides must be oriented horizontally (along long axis) as the slide tray windows force you to mount the slides in only one way. Even then scans may trim a slight bit of top and bottom off.
7. USB cable to dump pictures to PC is a bit too short

Comments about Wolverine 14 MP 35mm Slides & Negatives To Digital Image Converter:
I bought this a few days ago, after reading lots of reviews. I spent about 10 minutes looking at the instructions. I then converted over 500 40-year-old 35mm color slides to digital, saved on an SD card, in about 3 hours while watching a baseball game. My impression is that the images are clear and with very good color. I found the process of putting the slides in the tray and passing the tray through the box to be boring, a little fussy, but not at all difficult. I am very happy with the results. I am an ophthalmologist, if that's any sort of credential here, and I think I am reasonably critical about image quality. I would recommend this unit to anyone as being simple, easy to use, and with good quality results.

I like to shoot film on occasion, and this unit provides a cheap, quick, easy to scan negs to a decent size file. It's easy to load and scans very quickly. Of course it also can digitize all my old negs and slides. Of course, it can't compete with $5,000 scanners for quality and sheer file size, but for most of us, it doesn't need to. Highly recommended.

Comments about Wolverine 14 MP 35mm Slides & Negatives To Digital Image Converter:
I received the scanner Tuesday last, and through this morning I have done over 5,000 scans. . . all old family pictures, slides, and the many thousands of pictures that I have taken over the last 38 years. . . Eastern Europe before the fall of the wall, Korea, you get the point. I still have more than 20,000 scans to go. Only one flaw; the holders are hard to open; I have some film holders from another Wolverine scanner that I bought in 2011. For the money, I get what I expect without spending thousands of $$$$$ for a Commercial lab.

It's a good product with a good price. There are some cases that your quality scan is low. Many times the reason is that your negatives are dirties or impaired. If your negatives are in good conditions, your scan will have good quality too
This product is totally recommended, good price, good quality, fast, easy to use.

Comments about Wolverine 14 MP 35mm Slides & Negatives To Digital Image Converter:
Pluses – The product is fast and easy to use once you figure out how to use it.
Being able to save directly to a picture card without having to be connected to a computer is handy.
Being able to brighten or darken under-exposed or over-exposed slides during the scanning process is handy.
Observations – Images can only be saved in the (lossy) jpeg format.
The scanner window size is slightly smaller than the size of slides, so the edges of the scanned images are slightly cropped.
Minuses – I'm not sure what the "14 MP" in its title description means. It certainly does not mean the same resolution as a 14 MP camera. The file size of 35mm slides scanned in this machine is only 1.8 - 1.9 MB, which is what you would get from a fairly low MP camera. So the scanned images are okay for small prints (e.g., 4" x 6"), but not suitable for enlargements.
Also, somehow, the colors in the scanned images are very much more saturated than in the original slides (appears to be too much red). Have to run the images through auto color correction in a photo manipulation program to get them closer to those in the original slide. This requires more time/effort than I had hoped to use to digitize my slides.
In conclusion: If I had known that the resolution of the scanned images was going to be so much less than the "14 MP" in the scanner's title implies (it means something different than images taken with a 14 MP camera), and the inaccurate color obtained, I wouldn't have purchased this product. Except for this, it otherwise worked for me as advertised.

This is not what I expected.. for it to be classified as a 14mp is way off,the color is not there as it should be,the background lighting doesn't look right around the edges, and the only reason I give it a 'three' is because it gives me a way to put my negatives into the computer then use PhotoShop to clean it up..after reading all the other comments on how great it was I guess I fell for it,some people may have better luck that I have so I'm not condemning it all the way...also, this thing is a heck of a lot smaller than I expected measuring 3x4x4.!!!

I wanted to convert 35 mm slides of my artwork to digital images.
My results were very, very disappointing. I had to return it.
Every image came out blurry, ultra high in contrast with very washed out color.
I was unable to restore any of these problems with the computer.
A rep from B&H said because my slides were older Kodak Kodachrome I needed "flatbed double lens" job like the EpsonV750. What a hassle.

Scanned upwards of 800 slides in a couple of days. Worked very well and images came out very nice. For the price an excellent product. Dark images were difficult to brighten enough. The light intensity feature didn't seem to work too well but wasn't really a problem for my purposes.

This unit will scan slides very quickly! Resolution and quality is equal to a flatop scanner and the plug in card storage is very quick and easy to use. I felt the screen size could be bit larger for the preview, but with the included video out I was able to send the image to a TV, so that's not really an issue. Overall, very satisifed.

It is greatly overpriced for such a simple product. The trays for slides or negatives are very hard to open. The instructions are not clear. I plan to scan several hundred very old negatives. So far, the scans have yielded pix that need a lot of work in order to be usable.Next time I will be more careful about ordering something unseen. From the looks of it, I would only have paid $10-$15.

Loading slides in to plastic sleave is quite easy. The pictures are copied quickly, I would suggest you use an sd card as it will save you time. The internal memory seemed small but I didn't use it as the sdcard worked well/verall, it did what it was suppossed to do. One note, try to clean the slides beforehand as the dirt really shows up.

Great product! Shipped promptly, very easy to use right out of the box. I have scanned about 500 old family slides so far, and have another couple thousand to go, and am well pleased with the quality. I have had no issues with loading slides into the tray, or transferring the files to my computer. Being able to work without being connected to the computer is a great advantage allowing you to scan anywhere. I would defintitely recommend this to anyone who has lots of treasured family memories on slides and wants to upload them to a more contemporary platform than the old slide projector routine.

Comments about Wolverine 14 MP 35mm Slides & Negatives To Digital Image Converter:
We had several hundred inherited slides to scan and digitize after my father-in-law died. This scanner was the perfect answer to our need. It automatically adjusted the light level of the images to perfectly acceptable levels. It does take an SD card to hold a large number of images before resetting the number of the scanned images to the starting point. The only thing I found odd about the device, is that it uses a formatting style on the SD card that my computer cannot read, thereby making it necessary to transfer the images to the computer by way of the supplied USB cable, which also powers the device. The supplied power supply allowed me to scan the slides to the SD card without a computer connection.
