Used to mount a Drift HD onto a car windscreen internally and onto the bodywork for external shots. The metal fittings were an unexpected nice touch for equipment at this price. I'd assumed it would be all plastic. Having a single 'wing nut' to turn to loosen the ball joint / mounting thread is useful - setting these cameras up can often be awkward in confined spaces in a race car, but being able to hold the camera in situ with one hand and tighten the mechanism with the other, is good.The thread on the unit is longer than necessary. I guess it might be possible to screw the Drift HD on hard enough to damage the camera. But there's a locking plate that screws 'up' the thread to meet the camera as it screws 'down', so damaging the camera is going to be your own fault if you do it. At least the longer thread is there for other (light weight) equipment if you need it.It works fine with a Drift HD facing forward, mounted externally on a car door at speeds in excess of 100mph (160kph). If properly secured initally, there's only very, very slight vibration. Just as good as the Go-Pro unit (in fact I suspect the suction base is the same).

Works great on the windshield, strong hold and easy to adjust. Once locked in place, it stays... Great product. I thought it was made of plastic at the time of purchase, but it's metal, sure to take a beating and last.

I use the suction cup mount to attach my Drift HD170 to the fuselage of my airplane and it works really well. The large suction cup really grips the surface of the plane, providing a solid mount for the camera. I have made 2 flights so far and after each flight the suction cup mount was just like it was when I took off.
