The black KT PL-MTP-120 MultiPro-120 PL; Backpack from Kata holds a ton of gear in a relatively small package. This is a tough bag meant to, on one hand, be compact, while on the other, enable you to carry enough gear to get your through just about any job you can imagine. It's rated to hold gear such as a Canon EOS 1 MARK III, with a 70-200 f/2.8L IS USM, Canon Speedlite 550EX, 3 additional lenses such as Canon 100mm Macro, Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM, Canon 50mm, battery charger and up to a 15.4" (39.1 cm) laptop plus a variety of personal gear.
Made from tough ripstop and standard nylon, and supported by a foam covered spine for maximum shock protection, this bag features a comfortable and uniquely designed Gecko Harness that is both ergonomic in design and textured to provide a special "feel" while worn. Kata understands that schlepping gear around can be tedious and they have made this pack to be especially user-friendly when it comes to humping loads from A-B. It even comes with a tripod holder that permits you to attach your pod to the appropriate loops on the back of the pack while the legs go into an included sling area.
As for your gear, your 15.4" (39.1 cm) laptop is secured within its own padded compartment and is readily accessible when needed. The equipment is nested within movable, padded dividers and can also work in conjunction with Kata's optional Modi-Vers system of dividers that allows you to custom cut your dividers to suit specific needs. The dividers are yellow and make locating gear easier in low light.
Kata's internal Aeriform Foam is a perforated, laminated and reinforced foam system that pads the pack and adds another level of protection. Accessing your gear is achieved via several means. The front zippered compartment reveals the entire contents or by using the top zipper, remove only your camera that is stashed with lens facing down. If that isn't enough, there are side access pockets that work well when you sling the pack over one shoulder. Unzip, grab your camera, shoot, replace and you're off to your next shot. Ultimately, all these options permit you to organize your gear in a way that makes it most useful to you and that suits your shooting style.
The rear of the pack contains another unique feature. It's expandable and can be used to stash a jacket, books, maps, lunch or items you might not ordinarily take along. It also gives you the freedom to pack items that you pick up along the way.
An elements cover serves multiple purposes as well. The gray side is for sun protection while the black side protects against the rain. In either case, it can be rapidly deployed to protect your gear from inclement weather - and anyone who spends a fair amount of time outside knows that the weather can change quickly. The elements cover leaves you prepared for the worst. This is not a pack for the faint of heart since it is meant for heavy- duty shooters who carry a host of equipment and need a bag that meets the demands of pros who don't have time to waste on inferior equipment.

Comments about Kata KT PL-MTP-120 MultiPro-120 PL; Backpack (Black):
I have purchased many Kata bags over the years ... some very durable and heavy ... others light and compact ... this is a good mix between the two ... well padded on the inside with removable inserts ... I set it up so that my Nikon D800 could slide in and out of the top access door with a 70-200mm lens on it ... I was also able to create a nice side compartment that gives me isolated access to a second lens without opening the main compartment ... I use this bag for around town and short hikes ... if you are looking for a bag that will make it through rough terrain ... this is "not" the bag for you ... go with a Kata bag that's a little tougher ...

Comments about Kata KT PL-MTP-120 MultiPro-120 PL; Backpack (Black):
Will be headed to Kenya for safari in June and my airline's policy for carry on baggage now is 15 lbs max. This bag barely weighs 2 lbs empty yet is sturdy and well cushioned in all the right spots. It can hold a 15 inch laptop and efficiently carries most everything I will need including a large Canon 80-200 2.8 IS lens, 7D body, and several primes. The bag will hold a tripod or monopod as well although I will have to check these items. This bag is extremely well made and well thought out in terms of its storage capabilities. I have since learned this bag is unique within the Kata line in that it was designed exclusively from input from numerous photographers who had entered a contest and it shows.

Comments about Kata KT PL-MTP-120 MultiPro-120 PL; Backpack (Black):
I bought this backpack for both the short- and long- haul: we're headed to Mongolia for 3 weeks, and I do a lot of traveling for work. This bag stows all the equipment needed for our adventure-trip of a lifetime, and will let me take my camera along on business trips, too, switching up my laptop bag for this. It's proportioned to fit neatly in airline stowage areas, too.
Inside, the bright yellow liner makes it easy to see things. The zipper trips aren't just cool, they make it easy to access -- or more importantly: close-up -- everything. And the harness is padded so hours spent hauling it are gentle to your frame. I LOVE that it hooks nicely and securely to a trolley, but with apologies to Kata: I'll not be using yours, which frankly seems a bit too pricey... :-(
Tha bag also has a feature I didn't expect: laser focus. With some of the other expedition-type bags, myriad pockets and hollows let you squirrel away things you pick up along your journey(s). But this bag shuns all of that: its places are purposeful, holding your camera and business equipment, without the duality (dueling? ;-)) of being a suitcase or handbag.
I like that. And I love this bag!

I got this backpack in January as an early adopter. It is FINALLY the pack I need. Not only does it hold 70-200 on the Mark II body with a battery grip, add in 2 more lenses, a flash, and various extras... you can put a Camelback 100 oz water bag between the straps and laptop compartment. No sweating into the bag.
I took this bag snowshoeing in CO. It handled -12 degrees, a 30 foot snow cliff fall, extreme elevation... best bag I have ever owned.

Comments about Kata KT PL-MTP-120 MultiPro-120 PL; Backpack (Black):
This bag is deceptively large and will fit 2 full size gripped Canons (maybe even Nikons !!), 70-200 2.8, 17-40, 24-70, 50mm 1.4, flash, batteries and memory cards and that's not even using the laptop compartment. well made as usual from Kata. A quick access point from the side to change over lenses instead of opening up the full bag to show the world what's inside. The upper compartment will hold a gipped pro body at tight squeeze and then again it stops it from moving. The parachute style zipper cords for opening the bag up is a real plus as they can be used even with gloves on. It does ship with a rain cover and tripod mount but haven't used these at the time of writing. Another great product from those folks at Kata
