The Nikon SB-910 Speedlight is Nikon's flagship flash unit--the most advanced in the Speedlight range. The SB-910 advances Nikon's lighting mastery by providing easy operation and menu navigation, with a newly simplified graphic user interface (GUI). A dedicated Menu button with quick access to custom settings also simplifies the flash operation. The improved thermal protection system prevents overheating during rapid firing by automatically slowing down the recycle time rather than shutting down the flash. Hard filters for fluorescent and tungsten lighting are included, and the flash automatically changes the camera's white balance to match the filter in use.
The automated zoom head covers 17mm to 200mm lenses (in 35mm/FX format), and can cover this range in just 1.2 seconds. This flash lets you select from three light distribution patterns: Standard, Center-weighted, and Even. It will also automatically detect if it is connected to a DX or FX format camera, and adjust itself accordingly.
The SB-910 can work as a stand-alone flash, or as part of a wireless group, either in Commander mode or as a slave (remote). The i-TTL system in this flash supports Advanced Wireless Lighting and versatile functions for up to four groups of Speedlights, with 3 remote i-TTL Speedlight groups controlled through the master SB-910. i-TTL Balanced Fill-Flash flash control employs Nikon's Advanced Data Communication System. This system provides an improved method for the monitor pre-flash and wireless operation that marks an evolution in higher precision--it forms the core of the Creative Lighting System.
Observação! Please note that the SB-910 is only fully compatible with DSLR cameras that support i-TTL operation. With older cameras that use the D-TTL mode, only [A] Auto mode (non-TTL) is available.

I recently purchased the Nikon SB-910 to go along with my D7000. I already had the SB-600 flash. Since its only been a few weeks, I haven't had much time to get comfortable with it. But early indications are very positive and I'm happy with my purchase.
As background, I'm very much a beginner, especially when it comes to the use of flash. I was a bit intimidated by my SB-600 since it wasn't very intuitive to use. In reading some books on flash photography, it peaked my interest in it. In the book, the author referenced the SB-900 and it seemed much easier to use. By the time I was ready to buy one, the new SB-910 was introduced.
I think the reviews given to the SB-910 are very accurate. The user interface for its controls are set up fairly well and aren't overwhelming. One complaint I have is the on / off switch. It is very small and to set the flash as a remote or master, you have to depress a very small button and turn the switch. Not the best engineering in my mind but a fairly small item.
One issue I read a lot about with the SB-900 was the overheating shutdown after multiple repeated flashes. I've tried my hand at some easy splash photography, e.g., water drops. This requires numerous flash exposures in rapid succession. After a lot of flashes, the SB-910 did go into sleep mode but only for a short time. So while not knowing exactly how the SB-900 worked, I am not overly concerned about the performance of the SB-910.
So overall, I'm very pleased with my early use of the SB-910. I think it will suit my needs for long time.

Nice improvement over SB-900. Use it for events with out it over heating as the 900 sometimes did.
Would have been better if main adj controls stayed as they are in the 900 just to make it easier switching between the two. Just enough differences to have to think about it.

The speed light is used by more than one person with varing leveles of experience. It can easily be switched from manual mode to automatic mode. It is used as both on camera and off camera flash. Great speed light and good controls.

Comments about Nikon SB-910 AF Speedlight i-TTL Shoe Mount Flash:
Never thought i'd pay $$$ for a shoe mount flash. Some time ago I was about to purchase a pair of studio strobes for a price per unit similar to the SB910.I however realized that I did not want to deal with cumbersome lights as I do most of my stuff outdoors and on location, hence I started to build my arsenal of Nikon flashes. Now I am up to four plus a Metz Nikon compatible. The SB910 shines in a big softbox and allows me results that I am very happy with,I opted to skip the SB900 because of noted overheating/shutdown issues. The SB-910 has not exhibited those traits. It's a lot of flash in a relatively small package.Used either on camera and bounced or off camera it shines. You may pause because of the cost but if you are headed in the direction of shoe-mount flashes, get the best you can afford

Comments about Nikon SB-910 AF Speedlight i-TTL Shoe Mount Flash:
I bought two of these and they work great. The filters and diffusion dome go on much easier than other models I have used and the hot shoe is much more durable and less likely to break. I am always using my equipment in rigorous situations and am hard on my gear. It's nice to have flashes that can take a pounding. The commander mode is also very useful and the precautions Nikon has taken to ensure the flash doesn't overheat are nice as well. The cases are great too. I tend to even like to travel with them in the cases they come with but they can take up a lot of space in the bag if you have a lot of gear to transport to a job.

We are professional photographers and have owned the SB-600, SB-800, SB-900, and now the SB-910. The 910 appears to finally have corrrected the overheating problem, which was our biggest concern of all. Great flash coverage, improvements on wireless capabilities, easily adjusted functions. It feels like Nikon is getting really close to making a perfect flash. Very satisfied and well worth the money.

I have used all the Nikon speedlights and also use a Qflash, but the 910 is really the best value. I find the controls easy to locate and use. It is very dependable and does not overheat like the 900.
Great portable flash.

A very good product with lot of power packed running on just 4 batteries.
I was skeptical about getting this flash as I have read the options can be pretty overwhelming. I own SB-600 and found it to be lacking in certain respects. This one conveniently gives me all options I was looking for.
It was quite easy to setup with my Nikon DSLR/ Pocket Wizard/ CLS systems. I am definitely ordering another one as soon as my funds become available.
I recommend this flash to amateurs/ pros etc.

This is a much improved strobe over the SB-900 that it replaces. The menu is a little easier to navigate than the SB-800, but at this price, I would consider buying a few of the older strobes before purchasing this one. The hard plastic gels are a nice touch, but will be harder to replace.

This is a recently purchased product, and I have to say that having owned other speedlights in the past, this one literally outshines them all. The light out put is easy to control and the menu set up is intuitive and simple. Minimal time is needed to get comfortable with this flash. For me this tool helps me to be more creative. Again, great versatility, ease of use make this a winner for me.

This flash brings new meaning to the term "point and shoot." I bought it for my new D7000, which required a steep learning curve for me. All those buttons and dials. When I installed the SB-910, it took care of everything, even ensuring a usable DOF. I absolutely love this flash. It's the best I've owned in 50 yrs of photography.
