Hauppauge HD-Personal Video Recorder Gaming Edition
If you have an Xbox, PS3, or Wii game system and want to start recording videos of your game-play to your computer, the HD-Personal Video Recorder Gaming Edition from Hauppauge is here to help. It can record up to a maximum High-Definition resolution of 1080i. In addition, this personal video recorder also allows you to connect to a stereo or TV so you can experience your games as you record.
Because this device cannot store any video or audio, a USB port is included so you can record and store content on your computer. This device relies upon the H.264 compression format to record video and relies upon stereo inputs or digital optical inputs to record game audio. Dolby AC3 is the compression format used with audio from the optical input. When recording video, you can choose between three different formats, .TS, .M2TS, and .MP4. The first two formats are AVCHD compatible and can be used to burn Blu-ray compatible disk recordings. These files can be burned onto a standard DVD+R or DVD+RW disk for playback in a Blu-ray disk player using the included Arcsoft TME Disk Create application.
This personal video recorder comes with a number of different ports and jacks so that you can both record video and audio from your game console and experience that audio or video in real-time as you play. For recording video and audio from your game console, the personal video recorder has one composite video input, two sets of left and right 3.5mm stereo audio inputs, one S-video input, one set of component video inputs, and one Optical audio input. If you want to hear the audio and watch the video as you record and play on your game console, this personal video recorder has a number of "pass-through" outputs. It has one set of left and right 3.5mm stereo audio outputs for connecting to speakers, one set of component video inputs for connecting to a TV, and one Optical audio output for connecting to a supported TV or stereo system. An IR blaster input is also included if you want to setup and use a remote.

There are three H.264 formats you can choose when recording a video:
·.TS, which is a generic 'transport stream' compatible with many digital media players
·.M2TS, which is compatible with the Sony Playstation 3
·.MP4, which is compatible with the XBox 360

- The .TS and .M2TS files are AVCHD compatible, and can be used to burn Blu-ray compatible disk recordings. Approximately 2 hours of HD TV recorded at 5Mbps/sec can be put onto a standard DVD+R or DVD+RW disk

I have been using the Hd pvr for about a week now and its really easy to set up. The only thing I wish it had is an Hdmi option but that is not that big of a problem. It comes with long enough cords so if your tv is not by your pc it wont be a problem.

I've had my HD PVR for a week now and i'm still in awe of how sleek the design is and how great the recording quality is. If your looking for something to record your best video gameplay, i wouldn't recommend anything other than the Hauppauge HD PVR. The setup was easy and simple, coming from a very un-techy guy. On Hauppauge's Website their system requirements didn't affect my recordings as i have a 1.7 GHz Processor compared to the "minimum requirement of 2.0 GHz. So if your processor doesn't meet the requirements you will record perfectly fine, the only problem i notice is that editing your footage and rendering takes a toll on your computer. Other than that i would recommend buying this product.

Reason for buying this was The black Hauppauge module, the GREEN light, LOL plus it came with a 3-way component cable for Xbox, PS3, and WII. The 3-way component cable I bought off "a popular auction website" was junk!
Overall this unit is super easy to setup and use! I had this running within 10 minutes of opening up the box! There is no on-screen delay.
The Hauppauge HD PVR is the top of the line Video Game capturing device! If your going to do it right, this is what you want! If you have the original than this is merely a cosmetic upgrade. If you don't have one at all, do not look elsewhere! And buy it @ B&H! BEST PRICE by far!
