LENSBAND Lens Band (Black)
The black Lens Band from Lens Band is a unique solution to an age old problem. When using zoom lenses, especially extra long zooms, there is often a tendency for the lens barrel to "creep", i.e. extend due to its own weight when pointed either upward or downward. The Lens Band presents a simple and unique solution to this issue. The strong silicone rubber band stretches over the zoom ring of your lens and holds it firmly in place.
In addition to preventing this kind of problem, it also aids when shooting with a tripod where slower shutter speeds may be required, such as in macro photography when operation of the zoom ring may not be required. For anyone who works out in the field and carries or hangs his camera over his shoulder, lens creep is a common problem that can cause undo stress on the both the lens and your back. The inexpensive Lens Band offers you a straightforward solution to this potentially nagging problem.
It's easy to use. Stretch the Lens Band over your lens. Position it over the zoom ring when not in use. When ready to use it, slide half of it over the non-moving portion of the lens body. The pressure of the band will prevent the lens from slipping out of place. Just make sure the Band does not interfere with your focus ring.
As an added benefit to the Lens Band, it can also be used to remove filters that have become stuck. It works on manufacturer's filters from 67mm to 110mm or 2.75" (7.0 cm) to 4.5" (11.4 cm) in diameter. With the firm grip it provides, filters can be loosened without any potential damage to either the filter or the front element of your lens.

I tend to like simple solutions to problems and this product fits that preference. It took me a little while to find the best location and configuration but I think I found it (don't let it touch the focus ring). I have it on a creepy 18-250 lens. I haven't tested it in the field yet since I only use the super zoom for special conditions.

Although the lens band does work, it involves some clumsy maneuvering to get it into place. Changing it as you zoom is certainly cumbersome. I'm using it on the new Nikkor 24-120 f4 zoom, and although there is an occasional minor creeping problem, it's an issue I can easily live with. I'm not sure the lens band is really worth the effort.

I was given one of these and it's a good idea. The band will prevent your lens from "creeping" when put on properly. BUT--it's a big rubber band. I have some in the fridge wrapped around the brocolli and they're free.

Simple design that works very well in keeping long lenses from creeping. With the band in place you are able to hang the camera with the lens down without having the zoom slip. Very easy to use.

I am impressed by how such a simple device can work so well in holding the zoom lens from inadvertently extending... you simply push a portion of the band onto the extending section and it holds the tube solidly in place. the added friction is noticed when turning the zoom ring but still extends the tube with relative ease.

While not expensive, the "Lens Band" is rather cumbersome to use, and could be quite inconvenient at times. I can see where it might be occasionally useful but generally a pain and time consuming to drag into place. I have installed one on my new Nikkor 24-120 f4 lens, which has a minor but controllable creeping problem. And those are my findings!
