I purchased this to use for extra storage (music, movies, etc.) in my PC (Windows 7, 64 bit). I love the extra space and the drive has been running great so far (2 weeks). I also own 2 2TB WD Caviar drives, one black and one green, and have had no problems with any of them thus far. I have had great success with WD drives as opposed to others so Hitachi (now owned by WD) was a good choice, especially since this drive also comes with a full 5 year warranty.
For any other Canadian buyers, this place was quite an amazing experience. They tell you exactly how much your order will be with taxes, duty and shipping, so there are no hidden customs fees or any of that other nonsense and you don't need to register to see the costs. Last I checked, we can't even order this drive anywhere in Canada, we only have the 5400rpm version for about the same price as the 7200rpm version. I grabbed this drive when it went on sale so it was a much better deal than any of the Canadian retailers (who don't even have this drive), shipping was also quick only took 4 days to arrive from their Canadian warehouse via Purolator.
Can't really say anything negative at this point, I will update my review if the drive turns into a "DeathStar" but so far so good, I have faith in Hitachi/WD drives. B&H are doing an excellent job as well, will be back again for sure.
I highly recommend this online retailer (especially to fellow Canadians) and I also recommend this drive to anyone looking for a lot of extra storage, definitely worth it.

I was so excited to get 2 4tb drives, so after loading it into my Drobo S and formatting them I started to load data to it. what a nightmare that was. anything over 3gb would kill it and create a disk failure. After 6 disk failures, reformats, and 2 hours of searching forums about this issue; it's extremely common for this brand. I decided to return them. It has something to do with the magnets on the write head of the drive. The more bits that are written at a time will cause the magnets on the write heads to have issues thus creating the disk failures. The amount of space isn't worth the hassle of the disk failures and loss of my precious data.

Have 3 of them currently in my DroboElite. Beeng working great so far. Highly considering replacing the other 5 drives with more of these after a few months to confirm how they're doing.

Comments about Hitachi 4TB Deskstar 3.5" SATA III Internal Hard Drive:
I bought this drive to help upgrade my Drobo that I use for video editing, I was running 2TB drives but found that I could upgrade to larger drives when I ran low on space. I hot swapped the drive and it's been working great ever since. The only snag I ran into had nothing to do with the drive but rather with the Drobo and that was that it's now split into 2 different drives since upgrading with the extra storage space. I found out the reason for this is that when you first format a Drobo you need to dictate the largest drive size possible if not once you max out what you stated you wanted in the beginning the Drobo will split into 2 separate drives, this is not a BIG problem but something I wish I had known before I started.

Those for storage server. We need big, reliable, fast hard disk. Seagate and WD too expensive.

I use these drives to build a hybrid SAN for our virtualization platform. We currently have over 400 TB of storage in use and they are all Deskstars. We expect at least that much more to be placed in service in the next 4 months and again we will use the Deskstars for this platform. Hitachi Deskstars have always been very reliable and stable and they did not let me down on this last project.

I use this drive as temporary storage for HD video projects. I am able to copy multi-GB files to it in the blink of an eye. Much faster than my previous 2TB Caviar Black believe it or not. So far so good!
