The Rocstor 2TB Commander 3F7 Encrypted Desktop / Mobile Hard Drive/ USB 3.0 / FireWire 800 is a sophisticated real-time, hardware encrypted external hard drive enclosure with a 3.5" 2.0 TB SATA hard drive. The system alternatively supports an optional Solid State Drive (SSD) (not included). The Commander features the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface for blazing-fast data transfer speeds of up to 5.0 Gb/s. It also has FireWire 800 connectivity.
Designed, engineered, integrated, and assembled in the United States to meet the high standards of security-conscious professionals and governments, the enclosure boasts a design that is at once stylish and durable and complements any desktop. Constructed from 1.5 lb (0.7 kg) of recycled aluminum, the Commander is conveniently vertically mountable or stackable. An integrated shock-absorbing mechanism (patent pending) is present in the enclosure for added protection; it keeps the drive suspended within the casing, while also dissipating heat, enabling peak performance while operating at an optimal temperature.
An advanced, highly secure, hardware-based encryption chipset is integrated into the internal circuitry of the Commander. The cryptographic encryption module boasts a number of features, including Advanced Encryption Standard Algorithm AES-256 bit key strength and real-time encryption, ensuring that both encryption and decryption of data occur almost instantly. While operating in CBC or ECB modes, the encryption chipset is certified by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and bears the FIPS Level 2 certification for a Cryptographic Module. The Commander is authenticated via a digital key token inserted and subsequently removed, at which point the system is ready for secure data transfer.
Thanks to its internal, internationally-viable, Auto-Switchable power supply and quiet, fan-less operation, the Commander is easily moveable from one desktop environment to another via the included carrying case. The power supply uses any standard computer cable. The enclosure / drive combination is also compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems without any software installations.
