The budget-friendly SonyHDR-CX190 High Definition Handycam Camcorder (Black) shoots Full HD 1920 x 1080/60i video and can capture 5.3 megapixel still images as well. It's equipped with a back-illuminated Exmor CMOS sensor that's ideal for low-light situations. Plus, it features a wide angle Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens that supports 25x optical zoom and 30x extended zoom. There's also a 2.7" Clear Photo LCD display for easy recording and instant playback.
The HDR-CX190 comes outfitted with several video enhancing features. It has Intelligent Auto, which supports 60 different scene combinations, as well as SteadyShot image stabilization with Active Mode. Sony added a few playback and connection conveniences as well. The HDR-CX190 features Event Browse and a Highlight Playback function that creates movies with transitions and soundtracks for you automatically. With the HDR-CX190, you can use the Direct Copy feature to transfer your HD footage directly to a hard drive without even using a PC. However, if you do want to upload videos onto Facebook and YouTube, the camcorder comes with a built-in USB cable, as well as editing and application software.

I compared the price of camcorder on different websites for weeks. After I purchased one in a store, I found this better model on B&H website with the same price. Why didn't I want to get a better one ? I returned the previous one to the store and order this one online. B&H is amazingly effective. Placed the order on Monday, shipped on Tuesday, got this new gear on Wednesday.I used this camcorder for recording my student recital and it was perfect. The image and sound were recorded very nice, furthermore, I used the software come with the machine to edit it. I could clip any section I wanted so every student could have their own part movie!Awesome!

Even I did not receive the SD card promise in a promotion way with it, It's a usaful way to film a sport game like soccer or hockey in the full HD screen looking and with a minimum of compromise like the small size and is light weight!

The camera is not Full HD, but digitally zooms standard video to Full HD , such a picture is quite blur on Full HD resolution.
ITs like zooming into a JPG ....
ITs not Full HD, its written at bottom on camera Digital HD ... ask the sales person what it means ... I didn't and wasted my money

The quality of video is outstanding for this well-priced, small and lightweitht unit. The forward-facing built-in microphone records at low volume, though. This is okay for computer or television playback, buy playback in camera has barely audible audio. Of course, there is a volume control on playback, but even at full up there is too little volume for a user to evaluate what was recorded. The microphone controls, like all other controls on this handycam, are limited to two or three settings, none of which improve the record volume much. The video quality, autofocus performance and zoom performance are all "10" quality. Battery performance is mediocre, triggering a low battery alarm in about 45-55 minutes of HD recording starting from a fully charged state.

This camera is basically made for someone who just wants a camcorder to point and shoot. It is simple to download to my computer and simple to burn to DVD. Is is exactly what I was looking for. It has an excellent optic zoom which when you are using it seems like you will have a very jerky video, but somehow when you show it is smooth.

I USE THIS PRODUCT TO TO FILM SPORTS EVENTS. I HAVE A NIKON D7000 THAT SHOOTS FULL 1080 VIDEO, BUT I PREFER THIS CAMERA FOR SPORTING EVENTS. THE CAMERA IS SMALL, LIGHT, AND VERY EASY TO CARRY AND USE. THE CAMERA SHOOTS FULL 1080 VIDEO, AND THE MOVIES ARE CRYSTAL CLEAR. THE CAMERA HAS A MORE THAN ADEQUATE ZOOM AND THE BATTERY PROVIDES EXCELLENT SHOOTING TIMES. THE LCD IS CRYSTAL CLEAR AND IS A NICE EASY TO VIEW SIZE. FIVE YEARS AGO YOU WOULD HAVE TO SPEND AT LEAST A THOUSAND DOLLARS TO GET THE SAME QUALITY OF VIDEO THIS CAMERA PROVIDES. THERE ARE CAMERAS WITH MORE FEATURES, BUT THE PICTURES WOULD NOT BE ANY BETTER. THIS IS A BASIC, EASY TO USE CAMCORDER THAT IS VERY EASY TO USE. YOU CAN'T BEAT THIS CAMERA FOR THE PRICE. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT.

The only thing I have needed to use this for is videotaping my newborn and it has done a good job. Good picture quality and easy to use. The best feature is that it has a USB cable built into the camera, so you never need to worry about finding the right cord to transfer videos to your computer. I would recommend this camera to anybody in a similar situation.
