Panasonic's Lumix DMC-TS20 Digital Camera (Black) will never be left behind for fear you'll break it--it's built to survive a drop of 5' (1.5 m), it's waterproof to 16' (4.87 m), dustproof, and freezeproof to 14°F (-10°C)--as close to indestructible as a compact digital camera gets. And the TS20 has creative features for whatever mood or mode you're in: Panorama Shot, Miniature Effect, Happy Mode, Intelligent Scene Selector, AF Tracking, and Auto Retouch.
It's what's inside the TS20 that makes it worth protecting: 16.1MP of resolution, a 4.0x wide-angle 25-100mm (35mm equivalent) lens, luscious 1280 x 720 HD video, and a bright 2.7" LCD monitor with 230K-dot resolution. Sonic AF gives you very fast autofocus, and the shutter lag is one of the shortest among compact digital cameras. It has Mega O.I.S. image stabilization, so you never have to look at another blurry photo. Face Detection and Recognition modes give you great photos of people by optimizing exposure and focus for faces.
8 color modes help you tweak pictures creatively and a boatload of Scene modes (for photos and movies) maximize every image for you. You can share any picture or movie you shoot by uploading to sites such as Facebook or YouTube, using the included easy-to-use Lumix Image Uploader.

- The DMC-TS20 is shockproof, waterproof, dustproof and freezeproof, with the capability to record high-definition movie in MP4 format. Featuring a 25mm wide-angle lens, this versatile camera lets you capture your moments no matter what the intended shooting terrain is. The DMC-TS20 is an extremely versatile camera that you can take with you no matter where the action takes you.
- Waterproof
- With waterproof performance to a depth of 5m equivalent to the "IPX8" and "IP6X" standard, the DMC-TS20 supports active shooting on a beach, underwater or in a pool. If the camera gets dirty, soil and dust can be washed off by using water.
- Shockproof
- The DMC-TS20 is shockproof when dropped from a height of up to 5' (1.5m). It lets you shoot actively while moving around with the camera in one hand.
- Dustproof
- The DMC-TS20 is dustproof equivalent to the "IPX8" and "IP6X" standard. While hiking or playing sports, fine dust particles can enter through gaps in the camera body and cause malfunction. The DMC-TS20 can be used in these activities without problems.
- Freezeproof
- Freezeproof to 14°F (-10°C), the DMC-TS20 supports shooting while skiing, snowboarding or skating.
- Active Outdoor Scene Modes
- The DMC-TS20 has 4 active outdoor Scene Modes - Sports, Snow, Beach & Snorkeling, and Underwater - that can be selected easily and quickly by the menu, ensuring that you don't miss sudden shooting opportunities. The Beach & Snorkeling Mode is perfect for your beach activities, allowing you to use a single mode with optimized auto white balance both on the beach and in shallow water. - The DMC-TS20's large 2.7" TFT LCD features a high 230,000-dot resolution, and a wide-viewing angle that lets you frame your shot in a variety of ways for both shooting and viewing. - The DMC-TS3 features a 4.0x optical zoom lens (f= 4.5-18.0mm, 35mm camera equivalent: 25-100mm, 35mm equiv. in video recording: 29-108mm). This gives you highly natural expressions from people and animals that you can't get close to. The 4.0x optical zoom can be increased in power to 8x equivalent with the Intelligent Zoom function. - The DMC-TS20 has recording capability of HD 1280 x 720 movies in MP4 format. In addition, a host of options enhance the usability and fun of recording high-quality HD movie. The DMC-TS20 offers versatile ways of recording memories not only in beautiful photos but also in gorgeous movies with ease of operation in virtually all shooting situations. The DMC-TS20 also features Intelligent Resolution technology. Rather than uniformly enhanced sharpness, Intelligent Resolution precisely optimizes signal processing to give the entire image outstandingly natural clarity and fine detail. As a result, images are naturally clear and crisp in movies as well as in photos.
- iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode for Movie
- The iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode is available in movie recording. The iA Mode automatically and simultaneously activates 4 advanced detection functions including the Mega O.I.S. Since the camera automatically optimizes the settings, it lets you shoot stunning HD movies every time.
- Scene Mode for both Photos and Movies
- The DMC-TS20 includes numerous Scene Modes for recording movies, including Intelligent Auto, Normal Picture, Sports, Snow, Beach&Surf, Underwater, Miniature Effect, and SCN, all selectable via the Mode Dial / Mode Button. Also, the following Still Image Scene Modes are available: Portrait, Soft Skin, Scenery, Panorama Shot, Night Portrait, Night Scenery, Food, Baby1, Baby2, Pet, Sunset, High Sensitivity, Glass Through. Switching from still image to movie shooting is seamless because the optimal Movie Scene Mode is automatically selected. The versatile Scene Mode range is a unique LUMIX feature that handles just about any situation and subject type. By simply selecting a Scene Mode, the camera makes the optimal settings for you automatically, so anybody can take superb photos and movies with ease.
- Happy Mode/Color Mode
- Motion images can also be recorded in the Color Mode. It offers a total of 7 preset effects - Standard, Natural, Vivid, Black & White, Sepia, Cool and Warm. You get unique expressions by matching the colors to your subject and surroundings. In the iA Mode, you can use the Happy Mode to record even brighter colors.

- The DMC-TS20 gives you a new form of communication by letting you share your photos and movies. All you have to do is checkmark the photos and movies you want to share and connect the camera or SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Card to a computer. Uploading automatically starts by simply following the guidance. Facebook can be used for photos and YouTube for movies. You can join these social networking services without having to install any special software. It's easy to share photos and movies on the spot, which means that your friends don't have to wait for you to come back home to see them.
- Included Software
- The PHOTOfunSTUDIO 8.0 Standard Edition comes bundled with the DMC-TS20, letting you sort and organize images that were newly taken and also those that have been stored in a computer, with quick start-up and fast image loading. Movie clips can be uploaded directly to YouTube.
- Beautiful Photos and Movies Without the Blur
- In the iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode, the camera does all the work, leaving you free to compose your shot and capture the moment. You just press, aim and shoot. Once you've selected the iA Mode, the detection and correction functions go to work to give you beautiful photos and movies with maximum ease.
- Mega O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) - Shake Detection
- Everyone has had an experience of taking a photo at night and hoping to capture all the memories and beauty, only to be disappointed at the poor result. Panasonic has worked on the low-frequency vibration hand-shake component, which is physically generated when pressing the shutter button or when shooting at night with a slow shutter speed. You get bright photos without blurring even from handheld shooting at slow shutter speeds.
- Intelligent ISO Control - Motion Detection
- The Intelligent ISO Control function detects subject movement and automatically adjusts the ISO setting and shutter speed to best suit the movement and light conditions. When it detects subject motion, it automatically raises the ISO setting and increases the shutter speed to prevent motion blur. On the other hand, when the subject is still and no movement is detected, it takes beautifully natural photos with a low ISO setting.
- Intelligent Exposure - Light Detection
- The Intelligent Exposure instantly analyzes the framed image and adjusts the brightness in areas that are too dark due to dim lighting, backlighting or use of the flash. Adjusting the brightness of dark areas, this produces natural images that are close to the way they actually look to the human eye. When there is strong backlighting, the background appears nice and bright, but the subject is dark. This function detects backlight condition and compensates it automatically.
- Face Detection AF/AE with Face Recognition
- The DMC-TS20 features Face Recognition, a function that "remembers" faces. The conventional face detection system captures a face with focus and appropriate exposure but sometimes it falls not on the face you want to capture most beautifully when there are several faces in a frame. The Face Recognition prioritizes focus and exposure right on the face of your special person. In playback, you can choose to display only photos that contain a specific registered face using the Category Playback. The Face Detection also features the Digital Red-eye Correction (Red-eye Removal). The camera takes care of the red-eye effect that often happens when shooting with a flash, to ensure attractive facial expression.
- Intelligent Scene Selector - Scene Detection
- When the camera's in the iA Mode, the Intelligent Scene Selector automatically sets the Scene Mode to one of Scenery, Portrait, Macro, Night Portrait, Night Scenery or Sunset. The camera judges it from the various detection results such as focusing and brightness level of the circumstance. You are free from annoying settings every time scene changes when taking images with these most frequently used Scene Modes to get beautiful results even before you know it.
- AF Tracking - Subject Detection
- Once you focus on your subject, the AF Tracking automatically tracks it until you press the shutter. When you're taking images of an active subject, like children or pets, this function eliminates the need to press the shutter button halfway down repeatedly to readjust the focus. The AF Tracking makes sure you don't miss those once-in-a-lifetime shooting opportunities. The DMC-TS20 also features the Quick AF. Ordinary AF is activated when the shutter button is pressed half-way, while the Quick AF starts operating as soon as the camera is pointed toward a subject. This dramatically reduces the shutter delay time and lets you take images quickly. Its super-fast focus is ideal for capturing quick images of active children and pets. By setting the camera to the Quick AF, images of sudden shooting opportunities won't be out of focus or blurry.
- Select from 4 Aspect Ratios Featuring 1:1 Aspect Mode
- In addition to 4:3, 3:2, and 16:9, you can now shoot with a 1:1 aspect ratio. This unique square frame adds to your image expression possibilities. The 16:9 ratio produces images that match the aspect ratio of an HDTV screen. Being able to match the aspect ratio to your subject and shooting intent gives you even greater control.
- Built-In Memory 70MB
- Take photos even when you don't have an SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Card on hand. The built-in memory holds up to approx. 70MB of image data, which you can later copy to an SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Card or computer. You can also copy images from a memory card or computer to the built-in memory, and view them on the LCD anytime you like. In addition to providing extra memory when your memory card fills up, this is a great place to store your favorite photos so you can view them anytime you want.

- The PHOTOfunSTUDIO 8.0 Standard Edition makes it possible to sort and organize photos not only of those newly taken but also of those stored in your computer with quick start-up and fast read-in of images. The images recorded with GPS information are automatically sorted by the place name making it easy and fun to organize the images taken on your travel. For the portraits, the Face Recognition function that recognizes the faces in the picture automatically sorts the photos by the registered faces without picking out each photo one by one when you only want images of a specific person. You can also enjoy making photo and movie slideshows with a variety of effects and use your iTunes music library as background music. It is also possible to put a title or add comments on the scene utilizing the information from people's names registered in Face Recognition. In addition to the direct connection of the camera, you can upload photos to Facebook and movie to YouTube via this software, too.
