The Studio Collection from Softube contains twelve plug-ins consisting of eight emulations of highly-prized studio classics, and four of the company's own designs. Create acoustic spaces ranging from classic spring reverb to lush and vibrant vintage verb to modern, sophisticated ambience with the reverbs and delay.

The FET Compressor Two delivers classic compression with modern features while the Dyna-mite features a "Swiss Army Knife "of dynamics processors from the 80's. Four EQ plug-ins deliver a wide range of EQ possibilities and include two specialized EQs, the Tonelux Tilt and Tilt Live with their single Tilt knob.

  • TSAR-1 Reverb - Stereo Reverb Plug-In (Native)

    TSAR-1 from Softube is a true stereo reverb plug-in that features a powerful and modern algorithm. A comprehensive and easy-to-use interface makes operation effortless with five parameters making up the reverb section, with additional controls for fine tuning the reverb effect.

    Pre Delay is often used to achieve a subtle rhythmic effect or to carefully match the tail with the early reflections. Time provides for longer or shorter reverb tails while density adjusts the character - modern and dense, or sparse, lush and vintage. Tone and High Cut together adjust the overall sound of the reverb.

    Secondary controls include Early Reflections Type, Early Reflections Mix, Diffusion, Modulation, and Reverb Mix and Output Volume. Forty-one well designed presets categorized into a "modern" and a "vintage" set make full use of the parameters. The modern set focuses on the classy reverb sounds of today, while the vintage set mimics the characters of old school reverbs.

    In situations where full control over reverb is not required, the included TSAR-1R plug-in delivers the same sound using just three reverb parameters, Pre Delay, Time and Color, along with the required Mix and Volume knobs.

  • Spring Reverb - Spring Reverb Emulation Plug-In (Native)

    Spring Reverb from Softube is a native plug-in that is an authentic recreation of a hardware spring reverb. It can add vintage character and grit to any audio track and includes an automatable Shake control that will shake the virtual springs around for generating the thunderous spring effects. A Tension control tightens or loosens the springs to cover a wide range of spring reverb sounds.

    The plug-in features up to three springs with the ability to choose the number employed for a given sound. Set the control to ONE for a more pronounced springy sound and to THREE for a smoother sound. The sound is further enhanced by authentic tube simulation and the presence of treble and bass EQ controls.

  • Tube Delay - Valve Preamp Delay Effect Plug-In (Native)

    Spring Reverb from Softube is a native based plug-in that recreates the authentic sound of a spring reverb, brining instant vintage character and grit to any audio track. A feature of the original hardware units was that if the reverb was accidently hit, it emitted a thunderous sound. The software emulates this with the Shake control, while a Tension control tightens or loosens the springs to cover a wide range of spring reverb sounds.

    An additional control allows the user to engage from one to three springs. Set the control to ONE for a more pronounced springy sound and to THREE for a smoother sound. Authentic tube emulation and a treble and bass EQ add further depth to the sound of the plug-in which can also used both as a send and an insert effect.

  • Trident A-Range EQ - Equalizer Plug-In (Native)

    The Trident A-Range EQ from Softube is a native based EQ plug-in based on the EQ section of the Trident A-Range console, and created in collaboration with Malcolm Toft, its original designer. Although many seminal records were recorded through the A-Range consoles, only thirteen of them were ever made. The plug-in is a model of channel 15 from one of these console currently located at Sweet Silence Studio 'B' in Denmark.

    The channel features four-bands of EQ along with switchable high- and low-pass filters. Top and bottom bands are shelving, while the mid filters are bell shaped with the choice of bands often referred to as sounding "musical". When running a hot enough signal through the original unit and boosting the bands, it is possible to get it to distort. That functionality is reflected in the plug-in, but instead of using an input volume to drive the signal, a Saturation knob is used, alleviating the need to constantly adjust output volume.

  • Tonelux Tilt - One Knob EQ with Filter Section Plug-In (Native)

    Tonelux Tilt from Softube is an EQ plug-in for native based digital audio systems that provides a fast and easy way to make a track sit better in a mix, or make it sound "warmer" or "cooler". It's also perfect for live situations where the whole mix needs to be tweak to adjust for ear fatigue.

    The innovative Tilt design was first featured on the Tonelux MP1, a discrete microphone preamp module. The plug-in is a joint development between Tonelux designer Paul Wolff and Softube, and is officially endorsed by Tonelux. The plug-in features not only the original Tilt design but also adds a couple of new features.

    A special "Live" version of the Tilt plug-in is included, optimized for live systems with features requested by live sound engineers. It also includes modeling of the transformer found in the original microphone preamp which adds a subtle distortion for bass frequencies, fattening up the low end of a track.

    Filter Section

    Output Section
    • Depending on which version of the Tilt used, the Tilt knob in the output section will be either a Gain control (Tilt) or a Boost Ceiling control (Tilt Live)
    • In a live situation it is often necessary to adjust the audio spectrum without changing the maximum gain of the signal, for example to avoid feedback - with the Live version, the Boost Ceiling can be set to achieve this
    • With Boost Ceiling set a 0, the output will never be louder than the input, and regardless of the settings the plug-in will only attenuate, never boost
    • If the Boost Ceiling is set at maximum (6+) it will behave just like the normal Tilt version and instead keep the apparent volume at a constant level, regardless of the Tilt control setting
    Transformer Modeling

    The Passive-Active Pack from Softube features three very different equalizer plug-ins, each with a distinct character and modeled after real workhorse equalizers, used on thousands of recordings from past to present. Despite the appearance of limitation due to the use of only three bands of EQ, the design and frequency choices have been carefully thought out to deliver musical results.

    The Passive Equalizer is a three-band EQ with a clear and open sound, a warm low end, and sparkling top. The Active Equalizer features three fully parametric bands for a tight and focused sound, a great complement to the Passive EQ. The Focusing Equalizer is a non-traditional take on EQ where the low-, mid- and high-bands move automatically and musically in relation to the high- and low-cut filters. It also features filters from the Passive and Active EQ's, as well as a one-knob Saturation control.

  • Valley People Dyna-mite - Limiter/Expander Plug-In (Native)

    The Valley People Dyna-mite from Softube is a multi-function dynamics plug-in that faithfully replicates the original Valley People Dyna-mite hardware, a tool capable of limiting/compressing, expanding, gating, keying, ducking and de-essing.

    Designed in the 80's, the original hardware was a problem solver. Today it maintains that function while at the same time becoming a creative tool. Two sidechain modes allow for ducking or following a track. Both internal and external sidechain operation is supported.

    The DS-FM mode inserts a high frequency boost to the detector which makes it perfect for de-essing or limiting troublesome cymbals. In expansion mode, it helps to trigger the gate for high frequency signals, useful for preventing gate closure on hi-hats.

    Three different detector types give the plug-in three distinctive sounds, with a choice of an aggressive Gate mode, a fast all-round Peak mode, or the slower AVG mode. A faithfully modeled output stage preserves the clipping of the output stage that was a big part of the Dyna-mite sound.

  • FET Compressor - "Solid State" Compressor Plug-In (Native)

    The FET Compressor from Softube is a native based compressor plug-in modeled after what is arguably considered the most famous solid state hardware compressor. The company realized that simply approximating the most apparent features is not enough to capture the uniqueness of the original hardware, so instead of modeling individual features and putting them together digitally, they modeled the unit in its entirety - input and output stages, gain reduction feedback loops, bias differences of different transistors, etc.

    Unlike the original, the plug-in features a fully variable ratio although it can still function the standard way with fixed ratios. And of course the "All Buttons In" mode has been included. The signature attack that the original is famous for is faster than a single sample, and a look-ahead detector can make it function even faster. Parallel compression functions within the plug-in and since the "Dry" signal also spends some time inside the algorithms, it can take on the subtle distortion derived from pushing the input and output stages.

    Added features not found on the original hardware include external side chain support, detector look-ahead with low- and high-cut filters for the detector, two modeled VU meters, and a stereo peak meter that allows for controlling the output signal. In case there is no use for the extra features, they can be simply switched off.
