The 10TB 5big Office+ NAS Backup Solution by LaCie is a 10TB, 5-bay file sharing and backup solution designed for small to medium-sized businesses. It is able to backup 25 PCs and is powered by Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials. Thanks to its Active Directory support, the 5big offers full support for most any SMB, NFS and FTP infrastructures as well as DHCP Client, IPv4 and IPv6 network protocols.
The 5big Office+ features a powerful dual-core 1.6 GHz Intel 64-bit Atom processor and 2GB of RAM which ensures maximum simultaneous data access by multiple users. With its solid aluminum enclosure and thermo-regulated Noctua fan, it also offers an efficient cooling system that provides whisper-quiet operation and long-lasting durability. With Connector, the included backup client software, 5big Office+ automates backups of your office computers, from individual files - even open ones - to the entire system. And with support for incremental backups, only changed or new files will be backed up for quick and efficient operation. The 5big also supports data deduplication, which ensures that only one copy of a given file is saved on the server, maximizing storage. Additionally, you'll be able to connect external hard drives via USB or eSATA or use the integrated backup engine to further protect the server's data. Being powered by Microsoft Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials, the 5big aggregates shared folders from multiple servers, reducing network complexity by creating a single entry point to your data. The array can replicate data from one file server to several other servers via DFS-R, making the 5big an ideal solution for branch offices. Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports support link aggregation for enhanced transfer speeds. The 5big Office+ promotes in and out of office collaboration. It is able to serve files to any computer on the network using most any operating system, including Windows, Mac and Linux. Users can also access files from the road using Windows' remote access feature. A three-month, 100GB trial of Wuala secure cloud storage comes included with the 5big. This service allows you to securely store and back up your files online and access them from anywhere. It also allows you to sync your files across multiple computers and smartphones, making sure they are up-to-date on every device.| Capacity | 10 TB: 5x 2.0 TB hard drives |

Comments about LaCie 10TB 5big Office + Network-Attached Storage Server:
Good product. I was impressed with the packaging and the overall build quality. Initial setup didn't take me much time. I do have some experience managing systems, though. The unit works well. The file transfer speed and RAID rebuild time is good.
