The HN-900 Noise Canceling Headphones with Mic from Creative Labs provide high-quality audio and noise cancellation that's ideal for traveling. The headphones have large 40mm neodymium drivers that deliver clear, accurate performance for lifelike music and calls. The thick around-ear cushions block out unwanted audio and provide long-lasting comfort, while the adjustable, padded headband offers a snug fit for virtually any head size.
The headphones have active noise cancellation technology, which utilizes embedded microphones in the earcups to monitor your surroundings. The headphones then electronically cancel out ambient noise by up to 85% so you can focus on your music instead of your environment. The circuitry operates for up to 40 hours on a single AAA battery. A passive mode allows you to enjoy music playback without noise cancellation in case your battery runs out.
The single-sided cable has an in-line microphone with a switch so you can place and answer calls with a single click. The mic provides crystal-clear voice quality, perfect for use with iPods, iPhones, or iPads. You can disconnect the cable, turning the headphones into a set of noise canceling earmuffs for times where you want to enjoy peace and quiet without any music. The cable has a gold-plated 3.5mm plug and a dual-prong plane adapter for wide compatibility with portable media devices and in-flight entertainment systems. The headphones have a folding design for convenient storage and transportation in the included travel pouch.
Note! Mic and switch work only with Apple portable devices. Music playback works with all devices with a standard 3.5mm headphone jack.

Comments about Creative Labs HN-900 Noise Canceling Headphones with Mic:
These HN-900 are a pleasant surprise.I have been shopping for awhile looking for noise cancelling headphones. I had access to Bose QC15 and was trying to get my hands on the Klipsch M40. Then, Creative released the HN-900 with their attractive [$] price. Initial reviews were fairly good and I decided to order them from B&H (easiest way to get them in Canada since not available here yet).First thing first, the noise cancellation is not in the same league as the Bose QC15. The QC15 do dampen some external sounds and voices slightly better. Meanwhile, ventilation noises and other constant sounds are very well controlled by the HN-900.Sound quality is very good. Bass is very slightly lower than the QC15 but higher frequencies sound clearer with the HN-900. In my opinion, overall sound quality is a notch more pleasant with the HN-900. Please note that this comment only applies when noise cancellation is active. Why? Because the Bose QC15 simply don't work when not powered. The Creative HN-900 are fully functional without power but be aware that the sound is somewhat muffled and lacking separation when compared with the active mode. Meanwhile, very usefull if you're out of power.Battery life is very good, even better than the QC15. I have yet to keep a detailed usage report but the advertised 40 hours on a single AAA battery seems fair.Construction is suprisingly good for the price. Basically, they are a QC15 clone. The shape is basically the same. The battery compartment, a pivoting door, is better designed and easier to access than the QC15 battery slot. Earcups are made of a very soft material, strangely similar to the one present on the QC15. They are comfortable to my head and I often wear them for several hours. The HN-900 come with a soft carrying bag, a plane audio adapter (dual mono-to-stereo) and an alcaline battery. The removable cord (to use them without music - just for noise reduction) is of normal lenght and would benefit from an extra 30cm.I have yet to try them in a plane. To conclude, the Creative HN-900 are an excellent choice if you do not want to throw $349 for noise cancelling headphones. Performance, audio quality, comfort and construction are all well worth the [$].
