I bought this camera last minute before my trip to Costa Rica. The price wasn't outrageous but it hurt the bank a bit. Now having been able to capture priceless memories in rainy and wet conditions I'd buy it all over again.

So far a good camera for the money. Have not used it in the water but will on an upcoming trip. Was purchased when I can't carry around the 7D. Once I learn more about it, my opinion may go up.

Comments about Canon PowerShot D20 Digital Camera (Blue):
Iʻm always in the ocean doing some sort of activity: snorkeling, diving, spearfishing, underwater photography, scuba diving, etc. so this fits perfect for my everyday use. I still use my Canon D10 u/w camera and its great but this model is a step up. For one, it has more functions/settings and the camera is less bulky than the D10. I really love the "underwater macro" function thus making it so much easier to take macro shots. The increased video format is great as well. The only thing I did not care for is that it only has 1 port for the hand strap whereas the D10 had 4 ports so you could thus take your pick. All in all though, the camera is worth every penny and then some.

Comments about Canon PowerShot D20 Digital Camera (Blue):
I bought this camera for my girlfriend who originally requested the D10. As usual B&H's price beat the competition so I got it here.
First of all, the camera is bigger than you would expect. It has a much greater asthetic appeal than the D10, but wait until you get it to buy a case for it.
The image quality is superb with adequate light and the auto-focus works quickly. In low light however, it couldn't focus at all.
Speaking of low light, the flash is tiny. It is only good from about 4-6 feet. There is not an option for forced flash in auto mode, which is unfortunate for backlit situations.
This camera has a ton of features. It is great for the outdoor enthusiast and those prone to breaking things. It's waterproof to 10 meters, shockproof, freezeproof, etc. It has a GPS that you can enable to record time and location of each shot. It has a battery that works great so long as you don't use the GPS.
The GPS logger stays on even when you are not using the camera! Turn it off if you don't plan on using the camera for any length of time, i.e. between locations, or overnight.
There is not a definite halfway point when depressing the shutter button. You just have to press until if focuses and hold it until you want to take the shot.
The camera has pre- and post-shot editing options including crop, red-eye removal, color settings and more.
I haven't had the oppportunity to try it underwater, but the seals all seem like they'd work fine so long as you clean them out after use.
Overall this is a good camera. I'd recommend it for a trip to the beach, family get togethers, amusement parks, vacations, daycares, etc.
I would not recommend it for any low light, fast movement photography, like an evening wedding reception.

Comments about Canon PowerShot D20 Digital Camera (Blue):
My last waterproof camera was the Pentax Optio and I was far from impressed.
I am a Canon shooter (weddings, portraits) from way back and decided to give this one a try. Very well built with good seals and good I.Q. For a point and shoot it is meeting my expectations. Took it on a 4 day kayaking trip with no issues, battery life seems good, if the seals on it hold up then I will be happy with my purchase. If you don't expect more than what it is(point and shoot) you will be satisfied. Video works well, will give it the underwater and beach test this summer. Any issues and I will update my review. Build quality is good although a slight bit bulkier than some of the other competitors. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or buy again. 4 stars since I really haven't had it long enough to rate it with confidence

This is a great camera that takes great photos. Most impressed with the quality of the photos, stability of the photos, camera start-up speed (less than a second between off and photo) and, of course, it's a tough little doober. We replaced our Olympus Stylus Tough with this camera and vastly prefer it. Only complaint would be the size. If you've got big man hands, you'll find it comfortable. For little ladies and children, it's a bit beefy. Doesn't effect the quality of the product, but it might not be the best gift for your wife, girlfriend or children.

Finally! a great camera for the boat or beach. Fishermen should take notice. Getting the camera dirty is not a problem, just wash it in the sink. The only complaint is the lack of view finder. On a bright day you can only guess at what you are shooting. This problem is with all digital cameras that are without VF. What made the designers think we would not need a VF?

Comments about Canon PowerShot D20 Digital Camera (Blue):
I was in the market for a camera and the Canon's seemed to consistently get the best reviews.I wanted a point and shoot that will take great pictures, that I can carry around with me everywhere without constantly having to worry about damaging it.Since I'm just outside of NYC I checked what Canon's were available on the B&H site and the waterproof and shock resistant qualities of the D20 seemed perfect for a rugged, all-around camera.I doubt that I'll ever take it underwater but I've already used it out in the pouring rain, with great success. My hands are big and I've no problem at all with the button locations and the LED screen is bright, so no complaints about seeing it while in the sunlight either. The D20 also comes with a detachable wrist strap on one side and on the other side of the camera there is an additional "attachment loop" which is built in and quite robust…… so it's PERFECT for my "unbreakable" shoulder strap. So far the D20's battery life has been great too, even with lots of "flash shots" and I like the chargers convenience and folding prongs. The memory card (which is NOT included) was quite inexpensive ([$].) for the amount of full resolution photos it stores.Since I did buy the camera to take everywhere; I also purchased the AKT-DC2 accessory kit for the D20 (which unfortunately wasn't available from B&H at the time). The kit is a bit pricey but includes a silicone jacket for the camera (which I love) because it adds an additional layer of shock/scratch resistance to the D20 …… but everything else in the kit was kind of cheesy…… so I wish Canon would sell just the jacket, separately.

It is fast on, and fast to shoot video. Photos for [@] or photos and videos of the kids playing coach pitch baseball. It fits in your back pocket, and takes great photos, even when blown up on the TV.

My sister and her hubby who are soon moving to Maui (I know!) loved this farewell gift. It's gotten limited use this past weekend in and around LA and so far no complaints. Will update this review once they send me pictures of their adventures.

Couldn't wait to get it...got it...and...would advise to wait for price drop...not a fan of the protruding hand strap attachment as the camera would then no longer fit in a case...had to put the strap on the left side caribineer hole...indoor pictures need to use the flash...took it for a spin in NYC in the rain and worked well with nice shots...have to drill down in the settings to select Program mode though auto works well...seals are terrific...beautiful camera and solid to hold...super fast start-up...make sure to keep your fingers far away from the lens when shooting...not worth to pay full retail though...but it's a keeper...
