The Lensbaby Edge 80 Optic is an 80mm f/2.8-22 flat field optic with an adjustable 12-blade aperture. This optic is specifically designed to give you a slice of sharp focus, surrounded by soft blur. The size of the in-focus region varies depending on the aperture and the location of it can be modified by the degree and direction of tilt. The selective focus effect produced is especially desirable for close-up photography, as this lens can focus as close as 17" / 43.2cm when fully extended.
This optic is composed of 5 multi-coated glass elements within 4 groups and the 12 rounded aperture blades produce an extremely smooth bokeh. It is compatible with the Lensbaby Composer Pro, Composer, Muse, Scout, and Control Freak lens bodies (Not compatible with the Composer with Tilt Transformer for Micro Four Thirds and Sony NEX cameras).

Comments about Lensbaby Edge 80 Optic:
I am still experimenting with the Edge 80 but so far I love it! I am primarily a portrait/wedding photographer but I am using the Edge 80 for portraits and landscapes. Works great with my Canon 5Ds and 5D IIs. You must use it with a tripod but it's simplicity is great. The composer pro has opened up a whole new image style for me!

Comments about Lensbaby Edge 80 Optic:
I just bought the Composer and the edge 80 optic and am having a lot of fun with it. Since I am fairly new to lensbaby products, it is taking me a little while to get used to finding the sweet spot but what little I have done so far is great. Very sharp in the sweet spot and dreamy in the background.

Comments about Lensbaby Edge 80 Optic:
This is the lens I've been wishing for for years! I've been a lensbaby enthusiast since they first came out, and have owned several generations. I currently shoot with a composer and own the double glass, plastic and fisheye optics. The moment this one was released I knew I had to have it, and after shooting with it for a few weeks I can honestly say it has actually improved my shooting. I love that I have to step back and THINK about what I am doing and really compose and focus my shot. The out of focus areas have a wonderful dreamy look that I just love. The lens itself is very well made, and I love that I can change the aperture on the fly - no more magnets! Best optic ever from lensbaby.

Comments about Lensbaby Edge 80 Optic:
This lens works as a tilt 80mm lens. It needs some practice as the plane of focus can be set over a wide range. It will not replace my Nikon 85mm PC-E, but it comes amazingly close for much less money.
