Comments about Canon BP-E1 Battery Pack for EOS 1, 1N, 1V & EOS 3 Cameras:
I have average sized hands and was very surprised at how much the BP-E1 improved the 1V's handling while not feeling nearly as bulky as the PB-E2.

Comments about Canon BP-E1 Battery Pack for EOS 1, 1N, 1V & EOS 3 Cameras:
I have my EOS-1n for years now, but I only bought the BP-E1 last April from B&H used, and I regret I haven't bought it long ago. I decided to buy it after my camera started draining the expensive 2CR5 very fast while shelved. To solve the problem I started taking the battery out of the camera when not in use, and the battery lasted longer than before. But the procedure was annoying, to remove the grip every time. With the new battery pack, now it's just a matter of rotating a switch! Now I use only AA batteries and I never remove them from the pack. Moreover, now it's a dream to hold the camera and it looks like a real EOS-1, very beautiful. Highly recommended.

Comments about Canon BP-E1 Battery Pack for EOS 1, 1N, 1V & EOS 3 Cameras:
I recently purchased a used Canon EOS-1N 35mm camera from B&H. I'd forgotten how much fun film can be and am enjoying getting back to it. The BP-E1 handgrip is a minimalist way to add the ability to use the ubiquitous AA battery, so that I'm not dependant on the more difficult to locate, and expensive, 2CR5 battery. The BP-E1 handgrip boasts less functionality than the PB-E2 variant, but it's also only one third the price. If I pull the trigger on a new EOS-1V, I'll opt for the $400+ PB-E2 and consider it, as Gus said, "Money well spent... BOTH times."
