This is an inexpensive tool that does what it's supposed to do. It is quite ingenious but somewhat finicky in that you have to practise it a few times to get a feel for how the tool works. You basically insert it into the film canister and then by rotating the film spool towards the tool, the film end is pinched between the thin metal and you can slowly retrieve the film end out.

I use this film retriever to... well... retrieve film that has fully been pulled back into the roll. It happens sometimes.Having never used another similar product, I felt this retriever worked as it should. And it was only [...].It is however a bit tricky to use and somewhat quite east to bend out of shape. I would recommend fully reading and comprehending the directions before use. Practice on a dead roll would be even better. Use without understanding can lead to the film snapping off its real, making the film irretrievable with this product. All in all, you get what you pay for.

Comments about General Brand 35mm Film Leader Retriever:
It works just like it is supposed to. I wish it had come with a small protective box to put it in, as it is fairly fragile, but the product itself is great.

After receiving this, I opened the box, read the instructions, and pulled the film leader out on the first try. It works every time, it's paid for itself just in saving my time with loading film on reels for development.

Made from only Two small peices of Metal, butWorks Simply. Took a few times to get the hang of it, but Works most of the time. I use it to Change the Type of film (B&W to COLOR) for example. in mid Roll. So that I do not have to Bring More than one Camera Body with me. Well worth the [$] plus price of shipping.

After prying, smashing, and bashing film containers open for the longest time, I decided to be civilized at last and find a better way. This little gadget works great. I no longer have to sweep up shattered debris, or step on sharp bits at odd moments in the darkness.

Comments about General Brand 35mm Film Leader Retriever:
I would thoroughly shake hands with the man who invented this device. It comes with detailed instructions, and once I got the hang of it its easy to retrieve the leader of my film. It is a nice freedom to rewind 800 and then shoot 160S, and come back later to the rest of the first roll. Be careful with the tool as the metal is a little thin, fragile, and sharp. This is the best five dollars I have ever spent.

This product worked perfectly the first time I used it. It grabbed the film as soon as I heard the click and started to pull the leader out.

Thankfully I've only need to use this once, so far. It was a bit frustrating to use. Perhaps with experience it will be easier.

Comments about General Brand 35mm Film Leader Retriever:
There are a few other options out there for film retrievers and everyone of those options are more expensive and more bulky. This simple, and too me, elegant little tool is easy to use and easy to carry around. I don't see why anyone would opt for a more complicated or expensive tool for the job. That being said it is just two thin slides of metal which have a considerable potential to get bent/damaged if thrown straight into your bag or pocket. I keep mine in an old film case.

this is the perfect tool to reload a roll of film if you all of a sudden need another film speed or pull the leader out before loading it for developing much easier than opening the can and unrolling the film all over the place
Comments about General Brand 35mm Film Leader Retriever:
This is a must have for people that develop 35mm film at home. If your camera doesn't allow you to leave the leader out when you rewind the film you should have one. Makes it much easier to load it onto the reel as you can start the job with the lights on and then finish it with the lights off.
