I am a professional photographer shooting film and I recently started bulk loading my film to save cost. I always thought these were kind of cheap feeling and thought the ends would pop off easily if I was not careful. Last weekend I shot a wedding and lost three rolls of 135-36 that I loaded because of these.

One, the cap popped off when I was loading it into the camera so I didn't lose any shots.

Two, the cap came off a different roll when I was changing rolls, only lost about 12 frames with only a little sprocket hole light leak on the other shots.

Three, I was doing the after wedding shots and accidentally dropped a roll, which inevitable popped open and the case acted like a spring shooting the other cap off, opening up, and the whole roll that I just shot of the couple unrolled all over the grass.

I am not happy with this product at all. I have since bought the plastic bulk roll cartridges with the screw on caps. These seem like much better construction, the ends will not pop off, and you can reuse them as much as you want or until the felt at the leader tip wears out or you strip the screw threads.

Same price, go with the plastic.

Only buy if you want to waste film

I am a photo student and bought these to save money. They are very light and cheap feeling and the tops keep popping off which has caused me to loose a lot of film. I have been exchanging them for another brands and have not had any problems with the new ones.

Cassettes for bulk film work as they should. They are easy to open and load and are really cheap. Can't get any better.

The end caps come off a little too easily for my liking. I've got some older cassettes that are much more secure. I just put some electrical tape over the ends and these work fine though. All in all, they're fine for the money, but I suggest looking for older ones if you can find them.

I've been having problems with some cassettes popping open. I had a bag full of these with fresh film in my backpack, and when I opened my bag to grab a cassette some were open! Maybe I spooled too much film into them, but they all had about the same amount. If you have precious film, I wouldn't use these.

Loaded 100ft of film using these canisters. They are ok, but I wouldnt trust on an important shoot or vacation. Caps snap on, but dont look or feel snug. One cassette was pretty banged up, and appeared to have been used before. It had gunk on the felt, so it went in the trash.

The plastic canisters are more sturdy, will survive a drop, and feel like they'll last longer.

ive been bulk loading tmax400 into these cassettes for a few months now, and i am starting to lean away from them. i have had multiple rolls that develop fogged because of light leaks through the cassette. if you find a cassette that works well, tag it so you know which to use and which not to. also be weary of dropping them, if they land wrong they might pop open. not the greatest thing to use on a bright sunny day

works well but i am always concerned that it will loss its lid when loaded. in the changing bag it doesn't take much for the ends to fly off and are more tricky to reattach then the plastic cassettes
