These are much better than the metal snap-on cassettes. They are sturdy, light-tight and secure.

Recently my Son found a used (like new) bulk film holder and a 100ft roll of Tri-X. But alas... No cassettes. I have used similiar products many times back 'in the day'. These feel just as solid as those back in the 70's. Great product!

Comments about General Brand 35mm Cassette For Bulk Film - Plastic:
Usually, metal feels sturdier, more reliable than plastic, right? Not so with bulk film cassettes. The metal cassettes have to be popped together, which doesn't fill me with as much confidence as the simple twist of the plastic in the dark. I've seen others complain about the thin spools on these. This is true. But, just save spools from 'real' rolls of film that you process, and use those. Spools are easy to come by — nice, tight cassettes like these are a different matter!

Comments about General Brand 35mm Cassette For Bulk Film - Plastic:
these are easier to use than the metal ones, I really struggle with popping off the caps on the metal ones, so it's much nicer having the screwtop on these. To me, they last longer than the metal ones, I know that seems counterintuitive as it's compared to metal, but that's how i see it.

I have used both plastic and metal canisters; while I haven't really had problems with dropping canisters and the top coming off, I do worry about it. The plastic tops go on much easier, and feel much more secure. The screw-top lock is really great.
Comments about General Brand 35mm Cassette For Bulk Film - Plastic:
The 35mm screw-in plastic cassettes are great for teaching beginning photographers the cost saving method when using bulk film. Just a few years ago before the onslaught of digital, bulk film was the best way to learn and save when one really got involved with photography. These cassettes make it easy for my son to load his own film and shoot the projects I assign him. The cassettes do not have a DX code which is fine because he uses a camera that does not have any electronics built into it.
The nice part with the screw-in caps is that they are easy to remove but lock down securely. This prevents the possibility of bent caps which can occur with snap on caps. These cassettes also are good for about five times if they are blown clean after every time film has been run through them.
Over the years these cassettes have been the best for bulk loading no matter whether it is black and white film or color film.
Comments about General Brand 35mm Cassette For Bulk Film - Plastic:
a very good reel doesnt scratch film. the caps dont open. all the metal canisters ive used, the metal warps rendering it useless cuz then you cant reseal. but these reels are easy to put on and take off. my only quibble is the spool. the round part at the end of the end of the spool tend to break, its very thin. so if you try to rip off your film from the spool sometimes it cracks. so u have to cut it off w a scissor or risk breaking the spool

I am back to black and white photography after a wild ride with digital for a few years and bulk loading 4-5 cassettes for a month now. I tried metal cassettes and always have leaks at the end of the roll somehow. Compared to metal cassettes these plastic ones have absolutely no light leaks. I recommend them to anyone who likes roll their own film.

These cassettes are very easy to use. I had used the metal ones with the snap-on lids, had always been afraid of the light seal of the cap, and them popping off with a sudden jar when handling them. I like the plastic ones better.

I far prefer these plastic spools to the metal ones. I always have a hard time getting the metal tops to stay on and if you drop the canister, you've likely just exposed your roll.
I've never had these plastic spools fail on me and the tops are really easy to get on. They stay on too.
