The Sea & Sea MDX-D800 Underwater Housing for Nikon D800 / D800E DSLR Camera is a waterproof case enabling you to shoot beneath the surface with your Nikon D800 / D800E digital SLR camera. It has a depth rating of 328' (100 m), enabling you to dive down deep to capture brilliant images and video.
The housing provides access to virtually all camera functions, with the exception of the Fn button located on the front of the camera, via mechanical controls like levers and dials, as well as buttons. The D800 / D800E's built-in flash can be activated or disabled. Every button is equipped with a luminous sticker, making it easy to see when you're in dark regions of the underwater world. Plus, the buttons are angled for ease of use. With both hands on the ergonomic grips, you can reach such controls as the main command dial and the sub-command dial for manual photography, as well as video controls.
The housing comes with a 0.5x optical viewfinder. Other interchangeable viewfinders are optional (sold separately). These include the VF180 and VF45 1.2x viewfinders, which increase magnification by 1.2x, allowing you to see the entire field of view. The MDX-D800 is constructed from a solid aluminum-alloy block with an anodized finish, making it highly corrosion- and abrasion-resistant. To ensure you are notified of a breach in time to protect your camera against damage, an optional leak sensor (#46115) is available (sold separately).
The housing is compatible with the line of interchangeable NX series ports from Sea & Sea (sold separately). Various ports are available to accommodate macro, wide-angle and zoom lenses.
Dual fiber-optic cable sockets are available on the housing, permitting the attachment of an L-type cable so that you can fire an external strobe by the light of your camera's built-in flash (cable and strobe sold separately). There's also a sync cord connector cap, which can be removed to install the optional Sync Cord 2-pin Connector (#50122) or YS Converter/N 5-pin Connector (#50123) (sold separately) for strobes, via the sync connector set and 5-pin strobe connector set (sold separately). Wired TTL flash exposure is possible with the YS Converter (#50117) (sold separately).
The housing is equipped with an HDMI output, enabling you to view images and video on an external monitor like the Sony CLM-V55--provided the monitor, too, is tucked safely into a housing, such as the Wahoo HD. There's also a tripod socket, which is centrally located on the bottom of the MDX-D800. A quick shoe makes the camera easy to install and remove from the housing.
