This adapter ring fits the Lee 4" (100mm) filter holders. This adapter ring places the filter holder somewhat closer to the lens than the standard adapter ring. This is necessary for certain wide angle lenses to avoid vignetting.

I often wonder why things such as these are so expensive when it most likely costs zilch to produce...thanks Lee...now my infant doesn't get any baby formula this week! If you use the Lee kit on a Full frame and use wide lenses...like clean underwear on a first date....kind of handy.
