Atomos Samurai Recorder and Western Digital 7200 RPM 1TB Hard Disk Drive Kit

The Atomos Samurai Recorder and Western Digital 7200 RPM 1TB Hard Disk Drive Kit from B&H combines a real-time 10-bit SDI ProRes HDD/SSD recorder with a 2.5" 1TB HDD to record onto. The HDD features a 7200 RPM drive speed which ensures enhanced read and write capabilities. (An SSD can optionally be used.)

Samurai has a dual battery system that automatically switches to the second battery when the first runs out. The dual system also allows easy swapping of batteries -- you can switch to a fully charged battery without having to stop operation. Samurai has SDI connections, a 5" screen size, and among other features, a very pleasant touch-screen operating environment with 4 transport buttons. Some advantages Samurai has over its Ninja relative are timecode, genlock, and the ability to synchronize multiple units.

The accompanying HDD compliments Samurai's efficiency with quiet operation, low power consumption, and 3G SATA transfer speeds. ShockGuard technology protects the drive mechanics from shocks, and SecurePark technology prevents the drive's recording heads from resting on the disk during spin up and spin down and when the drive is off, resulting in a more reliable drive due to limited head wear.
