I was taking a macro photography class and did not have the $$$$ to buy a lens for my Nikon. Our teacher suggested this close up lens as a nice lens to learn with and not have to spend the extra money until I really wanted to have a specific macro lens. I am still learning how to use it but so far so good. I would buy it again and it fits well on my Nikon.

This if a great close-up lens. Allows very good detail when used with a 200mm lens and lets the photographer get in really tight to their subject matter. Great for taking photos of plants and other very small objects. A tripod is highly recommended when doing any close-up work as the least little movement will ruin the photo.

This lens works great for close-up work on my Nikon lens. Primary use now is to make detailed photo records of family heirlooms. Stand-off distance between lens and subject is sufficient to avoid blocking light. An excellent alternative to the high end options.

I use this lens on my 70-200mm VR Nikkor lens and it works wonderfully! It is much less expensive than a true macro and it slips easily into the pocket of my jeans so I have easy access to it whenever necessary. I will admit the focusing distance took a short while to get used to, but other than that I have no concerns. If you like close-up photography, this close-up lens is really a must have for your gear.

I only took few photos with this lens. But I took a picture of a spider of about 1 centimeter eating a mosquito. I cound see de eyes and the hairs of the spider too (a little out of focus, because I wasn't using a tripod neither a remote).

I took some pictures of dragonflys and we can see the mouth of the insect, I cound see too the dust and dirty of the wall where the dragonfly was landed.

I am with few time to take more pictures but it is very good macro lens.
p.s I use mine with a nikon d40 and a 55-200 VR lens.
Now I bought o remote controler too.

This lens (it screws on like a filter) allows one to halve (I think) the shortest focusing distance of any lens (on which it fits -- comes in different diameters). Works like a champ. I'd _rather_ have a dedicated macro lens, but for my use it allows me to turn my tele-zoom into a usable close-up lens without compromising any quality (judged by eye). It is also smaller and easier to carry than any macro lens, which I count as a plus. If you want to experiment with close-up photography (not too close -- it's not a true 1:1 macro), or only need to make a series of close-up shots, and you have a lens of the suggested length (see the specifications), this lens will ably meet your needs.

This lens is marvelous addition to anyone's outfit. The pictures I have taken using this addition on my 55 - 200mm zoom are outstanding. Very good quality dioptic macro close up lens.

I love this close-up lens. I have used it on two Nikon autofocus lenses (18-55 VR and 55-200 VR) and the autofocus works very well. The photos are sharp. I mostly use this lens on a very old 55 mm Micro Nikkor lens, together with a 2x teleconverter and an extension tube, further improving the macro magnification of the 55. Sharp photos and minimal loss of light under all uses. I strongly recommend this to photographers who aren't ready to spend $$$ on a dedicated macro lens.

simple to use, just hook it on the lens and get great close-up. excellent quality, and it gives it wider angle than other brand. wish there is the 10X magnification. D500 only have 5X so far.

I use this on my 55-200mm Nikon lens for taking shots of flowers. It works great--unlike those cheaper close-up lenses that come in a set and are marked +1, +2, & +3. Consistent throughout entire area.

I don't really believe in giving a product 5 stars unless it's perfect. Though expensive, I really couldn't imagine this accessory performing any better (within its designated limits, that is 70mm to 300mm lenses). It's optically transparent, extremely useful, and well coated (haven't had any problems with flare yet). I've been using this with a gaggle of classic manual focus Nikkors, and always with great results. These old timers perform well at infinity, but less so when focussed close (usually from coma flare)... but this diopter brings the infinity focus characterists down to about 1 foot in front of the lens, good stuff. Highly recommended.

The Canon 52mm 500D Close-up Lens is amazing! It's a snap to use: just screw it on your lens and your good to go. I used it hiking in a shoot Costa Rica and it was great because it was light-weight, quick to change out, and gave me a chance to get "the shot" before the "the shot" was gone. Other than a limited working distance of around 14cm at 70-300mm, it's a total must buy for any photographer who wants a good macro capability without breaking the bank!

I love this close up lens. I have this one for my 50mm f/1.4 and another for my 18-200 and I cannot say enough wonderful things about either. The bokeh is wonderful and once you get used to the distance you can focus from and how it adjusts your f-stops you may stave off a true macro lens for quite some time. Despite others comments I found it quite easy to get used to. The only problem I have had with it so far is having to unscrew it when I want to take a regular shot.

I attach this lens to the front of my Nikon 55-200mm lens to allow me to get closer to my subject. This lens is perfect for taking close-up photos without a macro lens.

This is a high quality lens that comes in a heavy plastic case.

It has a narrow range of focus but if you don't need the weight and cost of a macro lens, this is perfect to keep in your kit and attach to your lens when you want to take close-up photos.
