Canon Close-up lenses are for quick and easy close-up photography. The close-up lens is screwed on to the front of a lens like a filter. Close-up lenses 250D and 500D have two achromatic elements to correct chromatic aberrations. They do not degrade the high optical performance of EF lenses. Close-up lens 500 has only one element, making it more affordable.
The 250D is suited for lenses with a focal length anywhere from 30 to 135mm. The 500D and 500 are geared for lenses with a focal length anywhere from 70 to 300mm.

I bought this to use with the stock 18-55mm EF-S Lens that came with my Canon Digital rebel XTi for close up photography. It has exceeded my expectations. I have tested it on bugs, flowers, coins, and more. It takes very clear, crisp, and sharp photos especially when used with a tripod and remote shutter release. It isn’t a high end macro lens, but for a cheap alternative it certainly suits my interests and needs for now. Highly recommended. [...]

Difficult to screw onto my lens! It's virtually impossible to get lined up to screw it on. Then I'm afraid to take it off because I might not be able to get it back on fast enough. I thought I might use it for close-ups instead of my clunky macro for some nature photography, but you get yourself standing in awkward positions, so it's tricky holding it steady at the point where it's in focus. It takes some getting used to. Other than that, it's okay. If you don't want the hassle just fork out the dough and get a macro, they're a lot easier to work with. It is still good for the price and I don't regret buying it.

I've been using this as an add-on to my EF100mm. Boosts the maximum ration from 1:1 to 1:1.4 which is perfect for my needs. Screws on the end of the MT-24EX dual flash as well. This is a really ideal setup. I'm very happy with this purchase. Great enhancement for under ninety bucks!

This lens is a great addition to the bag. Its ability to capture great detail is incredible. We use it with the stock 18-55mm lens that came with our T1i (with UV/Polarization filters). I can honestly find no flaws with this lens. I use it for ultra close-up model railroad photos and my wife uses it for just about anything that she wants to capture up close - plants and flowers, animals - you name it!

Comments about Canon 58mm 250D Close-up Lens:
I was going to get my girlfriend a macro lens, however I talked to one of my friends who is a photographer and she said that I could do this for now and it would let her take the close up pics she wants without the high price of a macro lens. My girlfriend loves it so far and cannot wait to see what a real macro lens can do. Overall great service and a great product.

I have used the lens combined with a Nikon T-6 closeup lens coupled together to get great macro shots. I'm very happy with how easy it is to use with either my kit lens (18-55mm) or my 70-300mm. Both get great close ups either separate or together.

Comments about Canon 58mm 250D Close-up Lens:
This is a great close up lens. I bought it because I wanted better close up shots but didn't have enough to buy a macro lens. I use it with my 18-105mm lens and am very happy with the results. If you're on a budget I would recommend this close up lens. I have bought a couple other close up lenses but the quality of this lens makes it more appealing to me. I really can't find anything I don't like about this lens

Comments about Canon 58mm 250D Close-up Lens:
You don't get as good of images as with a real macro lens, but this double element close up lens gives far better results than the cheap single element versions. You do need to stop the lens down for best results though. All in all, it is a good option if you don't want to pack a large macro lens with you all the time.
