The 8 TB SnapServer DX1 4 Bay NAS Server from Overland supports DynamicRAID for seamless storage expansion by adding or replacing hard drives as per the capacity requirement. It is built upon the GuardianOS operating system. The SnapServer storage volumes can grow or shrink dynamically within the storage pool without IT intervention. It thus prevents costly provisioning errors and unnecessary upgrades.
The SnapServer DX1 NAS comes with four 2 TB enterprise SATA drives. With both block and file level access, the SnapServer DX1 has cross-platform compatibility with Windows, Linux, UNIX and Macintosh systems. It is ideal for file sharing and storage consolidation.The SnapServer DX1 NAS has data protection features such as DynamicRAID, snapshots, and disk-to-disk backup and it also supports optional data replication. It protects your data and allows you to grow storage pools seamlessly as your capacity requirement increases.- DynamicRAID
- The combination of DynamicRAID and SnapServer DX1 NAS provides optimization for redundancy and capacity without manual intervention. You can add or replace SnapServer hard drives at any time to expand the existing storage capacity. It allows you to mix and match drives of different sizes to dynamically grow storage pools without wasting much space. You can choose from single or dual parity protection with a simple click of your mouse.
- Revolutionary Volume Management
- It helps to create limitless volume on your SnapServer DX1 NAS and automatically share the available space in the disk storage pool. This means that the volume occupied is as much as required by the data, leaving enough space for any other volume on demand. Storage volumes can also automatically grow and shrink independently as per requirement without any downtime. Administrators can assign optional quotes to control volume sizes across the storage pool.
- Unified Storage
- You can consolidate storage by hosting both block and file level data on the SnapServer DX1 NAS. It allows utilization of common networking protocols for file sharing, collaboration and backup. You can also host database storage and virtualized servers on SnapServer iSCSI LUNs simultaneously.
- Advanced Security
- The SnapServer DX1 NAS provides local security for small infrastructures or it can join larger networks that include complex security policies. It fully integrates into Windows Active Directory domains, UNIX domains and cross-compatibility for mixed security environments. The SnapServer also allows you to maintain consistent permissions for users with multiple system types and with minimal intervention across your business infrastructure. It automatically stays synchronized with the full set of 30 distinct AD permission attributes. It also supports Windows-to-UNIX ID mapping and local permission management.
- Expansion
- You can add drives to the existing DynamicRAID sets to grow the existing SnapServer DX1 NAS storage pools. It can also be expanded by attaching the external 2U, 12-bay SnapExpansion chassis*. The SnapServer provides a pay-as-you-grow-solution without buying more storage than needed at any given time. Now create an additional storage pool within each expansion chassis and allocate it as needed. You can also scale a single SnapServer up to 288 TB while maintaining a simple and a provision-free management. 1
