This Equinox Underwater Housing for Canon 5D Mark III is a waterproof enclosure designed to contain your Canon 5D Mark III digital SLR camera with an EF 16-35mm f/2.8L USM lens attached. It has a depth rating of 250' (76.2 m), enabling you to dive down deep for underwater exploration.
The housing enables access to the important camera functions via mechanical controls, including On / Off, Shutter, Menu, Menu Select & Scroll, Set, Start / Stop, Mode, Manual Focus, Auto Focus, Manual Zoom, ISO, White Balance, Q and dials. A flash is not usable with the housing, as the space inside is too tight to fit one. The housing is equipped with a BRS / Ballast Release System, which serves a dual purpose: Easy travel and fast transport to the surface, should you run into trouble during your underwater video adventure. Simply pull on the quick-release pin on one of the wings and the wing and ballast/handle are released; the housing now becomes positive in buoyancy and shoots to the surface.
The housing is made of a durable, thermal-based polyvinyl carbonate, features an integrated 6" (15.2 cm) dome port, and is neutrally buoyant, due in part to its 2 lb (0.9 kg) internal half-moon weight. If you wish to attach a strobe, you can do so via an optional external strobe connector (not included), which can be added by sending your housing--along with the strobe(s) you wish to use--to Equinox for installation after purchase. As the 5D Mark III camera has no built-in flash, and an accessory flash will not fit inside the housing, you would need an optional sync cord (not included) in order to use a strobe.
