The Livid Instruments Code 2 Control Surface is a programmable MIDI controller featuring a grid of 32 push-button endless rotary encoders, each with a programmable LED indicator ring and white LED. The push-button endless rotary encoders function both as buttons and rotating knobs. Outside of this grid are 13 additional programmable rubber buttons with bi-directional programmable LEDs. The control surface can be used for recording music, DJing, VJing, lighting and any application that calls for programmable MIDI control.
The control surface works with any software that supports MIDI learn such as Ableton Live, Apple Logic, Max MSP, Propellerhead Reason, Native Instruments Traktor, and others. The unit can also be operated in standalone MIDI IN and OUT mode using an optional 5 V DC to USB converter and any MIDI compatible device.
The unit works with Livid's downloadable "Code Editor" software, which allows you to configure MIDI assignments and control surface parameters such as encoder speed. The encoders can be set to Absolute mode wherein the knob position correlates to a value between 0 and 127. Alternatively, the encoders can be set to Increment/Decrement mode wherein a clockwise turn increases the value and a counter-clockwise turn decreases the value. Each encoder on the grid can even be assigned to its own unique MIDI channel allowing you to precisely tailor each knob of the control surface to your needs.
The "Code Editor" software also allows you to control the unit's LEDs to map custom visual feedback layouts. All of your settings can then be saved to the unit's internal memory and recalled as presets.
