The STEADICAM Pilot HD/SDI Camera Stabilizing System from Tiffen consists of a 7" HD/SDI LCD monitor, lightweight iso-elastic arm with 28” (71cm) boom, lightweight sled (camera mounting chassis), low profile vest, backpack, and AB-mount.
The STEADICAM Pilot HD/SDI Camera Stabilizing System is designed especially for lightweight cameras weighing 2 to 9 lb (0.9 to 4.1kg). You only need to add only a camera of your choice as all other required system components are provided for normal operation.
The Pilot HD/SDI Stabilizer System consists of a lightweight iso-elastic arm, a low profile vest, a lightweight sled with a CarbonLite expandable post, and a low mass gimbal.
The iso-elastic arm features a 2-section, articulated, no-tools design that can be adjusted while supporting the camera. With this design, a STEADICAM operator can smoothly and effortlessly raise or lower the arm throughout its 28” (71cm) boom range. The iso-elastic arm is also non-reactive, thus improving vertical stability and control in all operating conditions from lock-offs to fast running shots over rough terrain.
The Pilot system’s lightweight, low profile vest provides complete comfort and functionality for extended productions and during long, continuous shots. The no-tools adjustments make it easy to adjust on the fly.
The Pilot HD/SDI System comes standard with an expandable carbon fiber post. Utilizing the low mass gimbal, the operator can work effortlessly. The no-tools precision camera stage works as a solid base for the camera and facilitates easy and smooth adjustment from side to side plus fore and aft.
The expandable, carbon fiber post and interface to the stage form a solid bond to assure no jitter in pictures as the operator captures those unique scenes. The stage plate is indexed so that the camera can be removed and remounted without the need to readjust the balance.
The sled boasts a 3-axis gimbal and is equipped with counterweights for balance and positionable monitor, gimbal, and battery mounts. Counterweights are provided for balance. The lightweight sled compacts down when the lower cross tube is removed.
