The 1TB My Passport for Mac USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive from Western Digital is an external portable hard drive that features a 1TB capacity and USB 3.0 connectivity.
It also features password protection and hardware encryption. It is USB powered, so no external adapter or unsightly wires are needed. Although it is formatted for use with Mac computers right from the box, it can be reformatted to work with PCs.
The fast 5.0 Gbps transfer speed of USB 3.0 is attractive, but the unit is also compatible with older 2.0 protocols, so you can use the drive immediately and move up to USB 3.0 when ready. The drive includes WD Drive Utilities which lets you set drive timers, run diagnostics and more.

- The Passport for Mac is HFS+ journaled so it works right out of the box with your Mac computer, but it can be reformatted for Windows. It is also compatible with Apple Time Machine backup software.
