SONAR X2 Essential from Cakewalk is music production software that contains fundamental recording and editing features needed to deliver a variety of audio and video related products. With all the creation tools and core technologies, plus a set of instruments and effects, the software is the perfect way to begin crafting great sounding musical productions. The software is 64-bit and Windows 7 ready, with Windows 8 support slated for a later update.
The Skylight interface provides a clear and configurable creative space that adapts to your workflow and is tailor made for today's high-resolution, widescreen displays. Dock windows where they feel best, instantly switch between configurable Screensets, and navigate with speed and precision with Timeline Zoom, Auto Zoom, and the enhanced Aim Assist. Skylight even switches tools and snap settings automatically based on context and zoom level.
A Searchable Browser provides access to an organized collection of loops, one-shots, effects and instruments which can be incorporated into projects with a simple drag and drop. Access complex FX Chains, create custom content locations, and even replace synths in a single step. Additionally, you can drag and drop just about anything both to and from the Browser.
An improved Edit Filter ensures that tracks clearly display the data you want to work with. Used with the Smart Tool, even complex, multi-track editing is fast and seamless. Dice clips, paint notes, time stretch audio, and draw automation with no tool switching. The software's PRV (Piano Roll View) has been enhanced, with the virtual keyboard displaying real-time MIDI input and Aim Assist functionality clearly showing both vertical and horizontal placement of notes.
Roland V-Vocal does pitch control while also providing control over timing, dynamics, vibrato, and formants. You can achieve natural sounding vocals with simple pitch correction, or achieve robotic vocals. V-Vocal can also convert audio to MIDI so you can double parts, replace sounds, and more. AudioSnap provides full control of the timing and feel of your tracks. Tighten multi-track drums with full phase coherency, lock MIDI tracks to the timing of audio tracks, convert audio to MIDI for drum replacement, create groove templates, and change the tempo of audio.
