Built-in Thunderbolt technology lets you daisy-chain up to six Thunderbolt peripherals, including the Apple Thunderbolt Display, to a single port. It also supports Mini DisplayPort peripherals you might already have, including the Apple LED Cinema Display. The HDMI port lets you connect Mac mini to your HDTV with a single cable. And a built-in SDXC card slot makes speedy work of transferring photos and videos from your digital cameras.

Mac mini is designed without an optical disc drive. Because these days, you don't need one. It's easier than ever to download music and movies from the iTunes Store. And you can download apps from the Mac App Store with a click. So what did we do with all the extra space? We squeezed in more powerful processors, advanced graphics, and Thunderbolt technology. And removing the optical drive gave Apple room to do one more thing with Mac mini: lower its price. If you still want to burn discs, consider the external MacBook Air SuperDrive, which connects to Mac mini with a USB cable.

Intel Core i7 Processor

This Mac mini features a quad-core 2.3GHz Intel Core i7 processor. The processor can also be overclocked up to 3.3GHz, thanks to Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 technology. With 6MB L3 cache and 4GB of DDR3 RAM, you'll have a smooth and seamless multitasking experience

Integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000

The visuals are handled by integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000. Intel HD Graphics 4000 delivers up to 65 percent more pixel-pushing performance than the previous generation of integrated graphics

Thunderbolt

The Thunderbolt technology in Mac mini is phenomenally fast. It features two 10Gbps channels for data transfer. That's up to 12 times faster than FireWire-800 and up to 20 times faster than USB 2.0. But beyond speed, Thunderbolt technology gives you unprecedented expansion capabilities. You can daisy-chain as many as six Thunderbolt peripherals, including the Apple Thunderbolt Display. And since Thunderbolt is based on DisplayPort technology, your Mini DisplayPort devices plug right in, too.

Plenty of Ports Make It Ready for Anything

The Thunderbolt port lets you connect up to six Thunderbolt devices, including the Apple Thunderbolt Display. You can also daisy-chain an Apple LED Cinema Display. Have a third-party display? Use the HDMI port and HDMI to DVI adapter that comes with Mac mini to connect it. You can even connect two displays to see more of your photos, movies, and documents at the same time.

A built-in SDXC card slot makes it easy to grab all those photos and videos from your digital cameras. And four USB 3.0 ports and a FireWire-800 port let you plug in your keyboard, mouse, iPod, iPhone, iPad, digital camera, DV camcorder, external hard drive, printer, and just about any other device you use.

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

802.11n wireless technology is built into every Mac mini. It automatically connects to your Wi-Fi network, so you can get right down to browsing the web, printing, and streaming your music wirelessly. Bluetooth wireless technology is also built in, so you can connect accessories such as a wireless keyboard and mouse.

Plug your own display, keyboard, and mouse into Mac mini. Turn it on. And just like that, everything works together. That's one of the great things about Mac mini. You can mix and match it with almost anything.

No Screen Is Too Big

It's easy to connect Mac mini to the biggest screen in the house -- your HDTV -- courtesy of a built-in HDMI port. All it takes is one HDMI cable to start enjoying movies and TV shows from iTunes, browsing the web, and flipping through your photo library, all in brilliant HD. There's also a handy control that lets you adjust the output on Mac mini to fill even the biggest HDTV screen. Mac mini comes with two 1TB 5400rpm hard drives. So you can pack in your photo libraries, movies, music, files, and more, more, more. Need to burn discs? The external USB-based MacBook Air SuperDrive does the job for a modest cost.

Mac mini comes with 4GB of fast DDR3 memory. And thanks to a removable bottom panel, it's easy to add more. Just give it a twist, and you're in. Pop your new memory into the SO-DIMM slots, and you're ready to go.

Mac OS X Server

File Sharing - Between Mac, iPad and PC

Now anyone in your group can share folders, exchange files and access documents on a Mac, iPad or PC. Because OS X Server supports both UNIX permissions and access control lists (ACLs), you have more control over who shares what. With file-sharing connection monitoring, you can see who's accessing your server, who's connected, and for how long. And intelligent Spotlight searching helps users find content on the server quickly and easily

Profile Manager 2

Profile Manager simplifies deploying, configuring and managing them all. It's one place where you control everything: You can create profiles to set up user accounts for mail, calendar, contacts, and messages; configure system settings; enforce restrictions; set PIN and password policies; and more. Because it's integrated with the Apple Push Notification service, Profile Manager can send out updated configurations over the air, automatically. And it includes web-based administration, so you can manage your server from any modern web browser. Profile Manager even gives users access to a self-service web portal where they can download and install new configuration profiles, as well as clear passcodes and remotely lock or wipe their Mac, iPhone or iPad if it's lost or stolen

Time Machine Backups

OS X Server can act as a designated Time Machine backup location for all the Mac computers on your network. Centralizing your backup storage helps protect valuable data and free up disk space on individual drives. And it eliminates the need for separate backup drives altogether. OS X Server also takes advantage of Time Machine to back up your server data - including shared files, calendars, mail, wikis, and more - to another hard drive. And it lets you easily restore your server to an earlier configuration

Wiki Server

OS X Server makes it easy for groups to collaborate and communicate through their own wiki-powered website. With simple yet powerful tools, users can create and edit wikis and individual pages, tag and cross-reference material, upload files and images, and create tables and add comments. The wiki is accessible from a browser, so anyone can access it anytime. Users can easily search for new pages and content, show recent activity, and view attachments with Quick Look. Whenever a page has been updated or new comments have been added, everyone receives an automatic email notification. Wiki Server is optimized for iPad. And with WebDAV support, iPad users can now open and save attachments from the wiki in Pages, Numbers, and Keynote

Calendar, Contacts and Mail Servers

Calendar Server makes sure everyone knows where to be and when to be there. Everyone can share calendars, schedule meetings, book conference rooms, and coordinate events. Contacts Server makes it easy to share contacts and keep them in sync on the Mac, iPad, and iPhone. Mail Server in OS X Server works with email clients on the Mac, iPad, iPhone, and PC. It supports push notifications for immediately notifying users when new mail messages arrive. With built-in virus detection and junk mail filtering, unwanted mail doesn't come close

Messages Server

Messages Server brings the collaborative power of instant messaging to your organization. Now workgroups can transfer files securely, share group messages, conduct audio conferences, even broadcast a presentation, movie, or photo slideshow to other Messages users running OS X

Software Update Server

Software Update Server allows administrators to control when and how software updates become available for users' systems. So when there are OS X updates, such as firmware, security, printer drivers, or RAW camera files, administrators can automatically download and cache them locally

VPN Server

Virtual private network (VPN) access enables your offsite users to securely connect to your network and its services, while preventing access by unauthorized individuals. OS X Server includes VPN on demand, which allows every Mac to establish a secure authenticated connection automatically. VPN Server supports L2TP/IPSec and PPTP tunneling protocols to provide encryption and remote network access for your Mac computers, iOS devices, and Windows PCs

NetInstall

NetInstall is designed for administrators who manage operating system installations and software updates for their organizations. It's the perfect IT assistant. Xsan 3

iPhoto

iPhoto is an easy-to-use photo application that makes it fast and fun to organize and find your pictures, as well as make them look their absolute best. With features like Faces, Places, and Events, iPhoto helps you keep track of your photos by who's in them and when and where you took them -- all in an immersive full-screen view. Use quick and simple editing tools to make so-so shots picture perfect with just a few clicks. iPhoto even lets you share your photos with the world with beautiful photo books and letterpress cards or online via Facebook and Flickr.

iMovie

Don't settle for boring home movies. With iMovie, you can transform the videos you shoot into your very own indie flicks. Create a Hollywood-style trailer that'll make your audience laugh, cry, and cheer for more. If you know how to drag and drop, you can make a movie in iMovie. It comes with Apple-designed themes that look fun and professional. Just choose one and iMovie does the rest, adding animated titles and sophisticated transitions automatically. Customize your screen gem further with your own words and audio.

GarageBand

Whether you're musically gifted or mostly curious, GarageBand is the application for you. Plug in your electric guitar or USB music keyboard and get ready to rock with virtual replicas of the most revered amps and stompboxes in the world, as well as over 100 software instruments. Just because you didn't grow up learning your A, B, and C sharp doesn't mean you can't. Basic Lessons teach you just that: the basics. Mac App Store

Just like shopping the App Store on iPad, the Mac App Store offers endless possibilities to browse and purchase apps. Apps install in one step right to Launchpad. And the Mac App Store lets you know when app updates are available, so you always have the latest versions.

Safari

Designed with the Mac in mind, Safari emphasizes browsing, not the browser. In full-screen view, the browser frame is only a pixel wide, and you can hide almost the entire interface if you choose. So there's nothing to distract you from an article, video, or photo album. Navigating web pages is easy with trackpad gestures -- flip through web pages with a swipe, and double tap or pinch the trackpad to zoom in on text or images. Safari also features Reader, which lets you peruse articles sans annoying ads. Or save articles for later with Reading List. And since pages render fast in Safari, you won't miss a minute of the web.

Mail

Mail makes it easy to manage all your e-mail from a single, ad-free inbox. It features powerful search capabilities, with search suggestions and tokens built in. It works with most e-mail standards -- including POP3 and IMAP -- and popular e-mail services such as Gmail, Comcast, Time Warner, Charter, Cox, Yahoo! Mail, and AOL Mail. Mail supports Microsoft Exchange 2010, too. If you have more than one e-mail account, no problem. Add your accounts to Mail and you'll be able to access all your e-mail from one place.

And Mail looks as great as it works. It makes full use of your display with a gorgeous widescreen view featuring a full-height message and a message list that includes snippets. With Conversations, messages from the same thread appear in an elegant timeline showing each communication as it was sent while hiding redundant text.

iCal

Keep track of your busy schedule and share it with others using iCal. Create separate calendars -- one for home, another for school, a third for work, and so on. See all your calendars in a single window or choose to see only the calendars you want. iCal lets you create invitations using contact information from your Address Book, update your guest list, keep track of responses, and receive the latest status information. When you or another Mac user receives an iCal invitation via Mail, it's automatically added. iCal works with Yahoo! and Google calendars too, and syncs to iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch, so you'll always be up to date on all your devices.

Address Book

With Address Book you have a flexible and convenient place to store contact information for everyone you know. You can import names, numbers, addresses, and photos from other applications, create smart groups for clubs, activities, and business purposes, print address labels and envelopes, and more. It syncs to iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch so there's no need for duplication. And since Address Book is built on vCard, an industry standard for storing contact information, your friends can send you cards that you can add simply by dropping them in -- no typing required.

Time Machine

Time Machine works with your Mac and an external hard drive or Time Capsule. Connect the drive, assign it to Time Machine, and start enjoying some peace of mind. Time Machine automatically backs up your entire Mac, including system files, applications, accounts, preferences, music, photos, movies, and documents. But what makes Time Machine different from other backup applications is that it not only keeps a spare copy of every file, it remembers how your system looked on any given day -- so you can revisit your Mac as it appeared in the past.

FaceTime

FaceTime for Mac makes it possible to talk, smile, and laugh with anyone on an iPad 2, iPhone 4, iPod touch, or another Mac from your Mac. So you can catch up, hang out, joke around, and stay in touch with just a click. And when someone tries to reach you, the call rings through on every Mac you own, even if FaceTime isn't running. So you never have to worry about making yourself available. If you don't want to receive calls, just turn FaceTime off in preferences. FaceTime is integrated with your Address Book so you can initiate chats easily.

Photo Booth

Take photo snapshots and video clips with your Mac using Photo Booth. Send them to your friends, use one as an iChat icon, add them to your Address Book, or organize and edit them in iPhoto. The real fun starts when you use the effects and backdrops in Photo Booth. Snap a photo of yourself at the Eiffel Tower or in outer space. Choose from nine effects that use facial tracking technology so effects look great whether you're front and center -- or left of center. Snap single photos or shoot multiples in a four-photo burst. You can even shoot video clips, complete with effects, then trim them right in Photo Booth and send them to friends and family. And since Photo Booth can be viewed full screen, you'll enjoy every detail down to the last pixel.
