Gain is WAY low. We bought this setup to use with a Zoom H4n field recorder. With the input volume at max on the H4n, these are barely audible. Hit one bar screaming into the mic. We've tried it with pre-amps and such and they have clear sound, but no volume. The $14 special lav I bought off the internet cranks compared to these. More noise, but I find I use that chintzy pack more than the AT. Sad. The equipment is built well, but without a gain adjustment, they're useless for us. Selling on [@] now and going to, gulp..., spend the bucks on a Sennheiser like everyone says we should have in the first place. The mic is great though, better than a Sennheiser we tested it against.

We are using this connected to the mic input on an older Sony camcorder, with the headphone jack going to the line-in port on a MacMini. The sound is fine, but the two units are very close to one another. This is being used to create a webinar, so the sound quality is more than sufficient. I think the better 829 mic was worth the extra money. This unit did NOT work hooked directly to the line-in port on the MacMini - it did not send out a strong enough signal for the Mac to pickup. I think it is balanced for the camcorder use, or perhaps in a PA system with a preamp or better gain control. It is a good choice for a quality lavalier at a moderate price.

Great value and works very well. Not good outside in windy conditions as the included wind sock is not adequate.

The Pro 88W is a very reliamle system. I have used it for several years under various conditions. As a wedding an event videographer I depend on it for clear reception of the vows during the wedding ceremony. I have even attached it to the main mic at events to ensure crisp clear reception. A decent product in just the right circumstance. I have got a great deal of humming and buzz from different shoots, which just changing the frequency did not stop.Buyer beware
