This Schneider 5.65 x 5.65" Essential Filter Kit is designed for RED Digital Cinema Cameras that do not feature built-in infrared filtration. Its three solid neutral density filters can be applied individually or in combination with each other to maintain exposure flexibility while recording video within a designated frame rate. Also included is a control filter to prevent infrared light pollution that can occur while using multiple neutral-density filters to maintain proper exposure when widening a video camera lens's iris to obtain a narrower depth of field. A padded pouch is provided for storage and transport.

The Schneider 5.65 x 5.65" Solid Neutral Density 0.9 Filter is an ND filter that provides a 3-stop exposure reduction. Its 0.9 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to record or photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field or convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

The Schneider 5.65 x 5.65" Solid Neutral Density 1.2 Filter is a solid ND filter providing a 4-stop exposure reduction. Its 1.2 density also creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to record or photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required.

The Schneider 5.65 x 5.65" Solid Neutral Density 1.5 Filter is a solid ND filter providing a 5-stop exposure reduction. Its 1.5 density also creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to record or photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required.

The Schneider 5.65 x 5.65" True-Cut 750 IR Filter is an infrared control filter that is designed for digital cinematography. While recording video with a CCD or CMOS camera, multi-stop neutral-density filters are used to maintain proper exposure by compensating for increased light levels when widening the camera lens's iris to obtain a narrower depth of field. As the increased amount of light passes through multi-stop neutral-density filtration, visible light is progressively blocked, while infrared light is allowed to pass through. As the proportion of infrared light that reaches the sensor of a digital cinematography camera becomes greater, the results can show unwanted color shifts, particularly in dark areas of the frame such as shadows where the appearance of black is dominant.

When the Schneider 5.65 x 5.65" True-Cut 750 IR Filter is used along with multi-stop neutral-density filters while recording with a digital sensor, infrared light waves down to 750 nanometers are blocked, helping to limit the light that falls on the sensor to the visible spectrum. Potential infrared color shifts are prevented or minimized, preserving color accuracy throughout the frame. While a True-Cut 680 IR Filter that blocks infrared light waves down to 680 nanometers is sufficient for many cameras, others may have sensors that require a higher degree of infrared control, such as that provided by a Schneider True-Cut 750 IR Filter.

The Schneider 5.65 x 5.65" 5-Slot Filter Pouch is designed to hold up to five rectangular filters that each measure 5.65 x 5.65". This padded pouch features a durable, nylon construction as well as a touch-tab closure.

  • 5.65 x 5.65" Tru-Cut Ultraviolet (UV) Infrared (IR) 750 Blocking Filter

    The 5.65 x 5.65"Tru-Cut Ultraviolet (UV) Infrared (IR) 750 Blocking Filter from Schneider Optics has a completely colorless glass carrier coated with a number of extremely thin, partially reflecting layers with precisely computed thicknesses, similar to MC coating (multi-coating).

    The Schneider Tru-Cut IR filter does not block by means of absorption, but by interference of the unwanted UV and IR radiation that is repeatedly reflected between these layers affecting the wavelengths on both sides of the visible spectrum with a steep cut-off. This filter is particularly effective when using high-density neutral density filters that help control depth of field. As the iris on the lens becomes larger, the danger from IR contamination becomes more prevalent. By using this filter, colors become more vibrant and true. 

    The purpose of this filter is to block all UV and IR 'light' from reaching the sensor. This is particularly useful with some high end video cameras on the market that leak IR and produce magenta blacks in low light - this filter will bring the blacks back to black. The filter is clear when you look through it at 90° but when you look at it from an oblique angle, it has a magenta or cyan cast due to the complex coatings.

    Used mainly on digital and video cameras with CCD sensors without an integrated IR protection filter, because the IR sensitivity of the CCD sensor would otherwise cause color changes and unsharpness
    That unsharpness results from the chromatic aberration of the lenses that are only corrected for visible light
