The Assimilate Upgrade from SCRATCH Lab to SCRATCH is a discounted upgrade to SCRATCH from any version of SCRATCH Lab, as long as SCRATCH Lab is within a one year maintenance support period, whether the original one year or a renewed one.

SCRATCH is a comprehensive DI finishing software capable of flexible acquisition, on-set dailies primary level color correction, conform, and full-finish post production, including high-resolution grading and 3D compositing.

SCRATCH combines grading and compositing with a powerful data management engine. An SQL database organizes metadata from virtually any source and makes it available to any other tool in the workflow at any time. An open data pipeline enables SCRATCH to be automated and extended via XML to build efficient pipelines, and full HTML support offers the flexibility of remote client reviews. Plug-in support architecture allows further enhancing SCRATCH with plug-ins like Furnace and Sapphire. Stereo 3D is not an add-on but rather built from the ground up. Image pairs are automatically linked for versioning and real-time playback to a wide variety of stereoscopic delivery systems.

The key components to run SCRATCH at its best are graphics, RAM, and disk bandwidth. The program is compatible with many desktop control panels, including the relatively affordable Tangent Devices Element panels.

Your purchase provides you with an electronic download and you can select either the Mac or Windows version. Your maintenance support period will continue from where it left off.

Color Correction & 3D Compositing
SCRATCH seamlessly blends color correction with deep 3D compositing in one unified, real-time system. You won't have to interrupt your DI session because you have to send beauty shots out to VFX. Does your shot need a quick object replaced? Need to add a Sapphire Lens Flare? SCRATCH handles all these routine VFX fixes right in the DI session without stopping.
Optimized for Real-Time, Client-Attended Interactivity
SCRATCH delivers the raw performance that inspires collaboration with your clients. Play and review multi-resolution shots side-by-side and in real-time. Experience incredibly fluid, responsive grading and finishing sessions.
Digital Tools for the Entire Post-Production Workflow
SCRATCH delivers real-time data management, to dailies playback and review, extremely flexible conform, advanced color grading, unlimited versioning, titling, compositing, finishing, and mastering to a variety of formats.
Unmatched Flexibility
SCRATCH seamlessly integrates via XML with other tools in your workflow such as Nuke, Shotgun, Avid, and Final Cut Pro. Extend dailies sessions for remote review and comment or create the kind of automated workflows and client tools that, until now, only the biggest facilities could afford.
Pay-As-You-Use Upgrades
SCRATCH lets you add new subscription options with volume purchasing and pay-as-you- use choices, so you can match your costs with your revenues.

Mac System Requirements
Operating System Max OS X 10.6.7 or higher
Processor MacPro5,1 -- two 2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon "Westmere" processors

A powerful Mac Pro will be required if you have video clips in a raw digital camera format, or for working with projects in HD, 2K, and 4K.
Graphics SCRATCH is fully accelerated by GPU technology. The following GPU cards are supported by the Mac version of SCRATCH:

NVIDIA Quadro 4000
AMD Radeon HD 5770 and 5870 cards (requires Lion or better)

Always check on the Assimilate Support Website for which driver to install for your card as not all drivers are tested.
RAM Minimum of 12 GB
Storage Whether Direct Attached or SAN storage, bandwidth is a key factor in getting real-time playback performance. For example, if you wish to maintain 2K stereo real-time playback, you will need to sustain 1000MB/sec. Assimilate recommends a 10 bay internal or external RAID storage for media files.
Monitoring NVIDIA Quadro cards offer dual DVI outputs, and SCRATCH allows you to configure the second as a full-screen output that will not have the user interface overlaid on it and can be used as a clean feed for projection, client monitoring or output to a tape deck.

Dual monitor resolutions up to HD:
Mac dual monitor requirements are a passive converter Display Port to DVI converter then DVI to DVI that only supports HD resolution.

Dual monitor resolutions up to 2560 x 1600:
An active Dual Link DisplayPort to DVI adapter is needed to get full 2560px, since the NVIDIA Fermi series only has one DVI port and 2 display ports.
SDI Output SCRATCH supports SDI output (with embedded audio) for SDI monitoring and SDI playout on Mac OS X via:
1) The AJA Kona 3 and 3G cards
3) Bluefish444 Epoch | 2K Ultra card
Drivers The current graphics drivers you need are both the CUDA driver 3.2.17 for Mac OS X and the NVIDIA retail 256.01 driver (you need them both)
Additional Considerations If you plan on using a RED Rocket card you will need a PCIe x16 slot.
Windows System Requirements
Operating System Optimized for Windows 7, 64-bit
Processor Single Xeon i5 or i7 minimum; dual recommended
Graphics SCRATCH is fully accelerated by GPU technology. The following GPU cards are supported by the Windows version of SCRATCH:

NVIDIA Quadro 6000
AMD FirePro W8000 and V7900

Always check on the Assimilate Support Website for which driver to install for your card as not all drivers are tested.

SDI Output SCRATCH supports SDI output (with embedded audio) for SDI monitoring and SDI playout on Windows via:
1) Quadro SDI output daughter card for NVIDIA Quadro 6000
2) AMD V7900 with an AJA Kona 3 or 3G card
3) Bluefish444 Epoch | 2K Ultra card
4) Bluefish444 Epoch | 4K Supernova card
PCI-Express To add additional cards for SDI, audio, and RED Rocket cards, aim for as many x16 sized PCI-E slots as you can.
Audio Stereo monitoring is available via the on-board audio (speaker) output. For "advanced" monitoring, including multi-channel audio, and playout to tape, a professional audio card like the Lynx AES16e, or a combination SDI/audio card like the BlueFish444 can be used. If you have purchased the NVIDIA SDI daughter card, there is no need for an additional audio card, as the SDI option also gives you embedded audio.
Additional Considerations RED r3d Decoding:
SCRATCH can perform RED r3d decoding at various resolutions and de-bayer qualities to match the real-time performance of your computer hardware. If one or two RED Rocket cards are installed, full resolution and premium de-bayer quality can be achieved (in stereo with two cards).

Grading Panel:
SCRATCH can be driven from the Avid Artist Color panel series or all Tangent panels including the Element, CP200, and Wave panels.
